I have the thumbstick drift problem on my original controller about 6 months into ownership. Microsoft agreed to replace it at no cost but in the mean time I purchased a second controller. Second controller ended up having the drift problem after a few months and now my replacement, aka third controller, won't properly charge.

I can charge the battery in the broken controller and swap it but it won't work on PC games. I guess I'll bug Microsoft but I doubt I'll get any more replacements. Really don't wanna drop another $60.

That sucks. I've not had an issue with any of my 5 controllers, except my original one with the console. That was an annoying issue where the stick stems get ground up a bit over time, but it was still functionally fine.

My Day 1 edition controller had a left stick that would sometimes separate itself from the base during gameplay and you could feel it pop back into place when it went back into position. Annoying as hell. Other than that I haven't had any problems.

Have you tried a different cable by chance?

I didn't have any issue with my day one controller, but I ended up trading it in for the lunar white one when they did a decent deal at GS for it.

Yeah I've tried several different cables and nada. It'll vibrate as if it detects a cable but won't light up. If I hold the button and then plug it it it doesn't recognize being plugged in either.

Even though they feel clunky to me, my XB1 controllers haven't had any issues. I do however use rechargeable AA batteries. Now the triggers on my launch PS4 controllers went bad pretty quickly.

Stop throwing your controllers at the wall every time you die in Dark Souls 2.

On my 360 controller it drifts a little to the left. If I flick the thumb-stick to the right it stops drifting. This was on my ebony black 360. I never had an issue with the default controllers on my original 360, or the One.

Damn, you guys must be really hard on controllers. I still have my launch PS4 controller, still works but most of the texture has come off the left stick and my Xbone controller I've had for almost a year is still working just fine.

My launch PS4 controller is still working great. I wish I had timed how long it lasted on a charge when I bought it, feels that the charge only lasts a few hours now.

Mechanically my PS4 controllers are fine, but I'm about to need to replace the sticks again. The rubber peels off fast.

First with Final Fantasy XIV for 7 months.

Then Metal Gear Solid V, Tales of Zestiria, and Fallout 4 all 100% back to back... it's brutal on the analog stick's rubber coating.

The 1st replacement set is holding but I noticed little bubbles in them again where the rubber is starting to separate again after completing Metal Gear lol.

Design flaw? Abuse? I don't recall ever having this problem with PS2, 360, or PS3.

Even my PS2 controller was intact after 2 Kingdom Hearts and 3 Xenosaga games back to back one summer. My little all previous Metal Gears marathon on the PS3 HD/Legacy collection right before Phantom Pain launched didn't seem to bother it, including the worst of which time/grind wise was Peacewalker. Same controller I played Graces f and Xillia on and it's no worse than a new controller other than the hard plastics being noticeably polished, but the sticks are fine.

So I'm going to go with design flaw on DS4.

Man that is strange... I have 3 controllers and no problems, but I've probably only used one of them enough to do any real wear on it. It was the controller that came with the system.

I don't think so. I do not play any differently than I did between same generation consoles and yet the newer controller exhibits an issue. I am much more abusing of the right thumb-stick, which doesn't have an issue.

Just took apart my drifting controller and removed the clip next to the right analog. Stick is a little looser but works again.
