If you read the article (none of you did) you'd see it's to protest that only 5% of the artists in the museum are female. Feminist stuff.

Actually, that part of the article is talking about the Guerrilla Girls poster from 1989 which stated that 5%/85% fact, and has nothing at all to do with what happened in Paris.

In fact, the "artist" is quoted directly as to what her motivations were: "I am revealing what we do not see in the painting, the eye of the vagina, the black hole, this concealed eye, this chasm, which, beyond the flesh, refers to infinity, to the origin of the origin.”"

If she really wanted to make a statement about the vulva and creation, she should have had a baby in front of the painting. Then we could get the full effect, from the life giving waters erupting forth, to the screaming bloody infant signifying the dawn of man, or woman, and all that other esoteric artsy fartsy BS she seems so concerned about.

At least she didn't raise up her arms and show her hairy feminist French pits too, now THAT would have really been obscene!

And why the hell were all the women clapping like they never saw one before. Now the men clapping and cat calling I can understand, but if this happened in the USA the women would be laughing their asses off at her and trying to get a selfie in front of her, while the guys would just go for a close up with their camera phones.

If that was really her concern, she should have gotten ahold of a turkey baster full of bull semen and a dozen raw eggs and thrown them at the crowd. Sort of like a Gallagher style creation myth or something. Now that I would pay to see. What she is showing off I can get for free already if I wanted it, so her effort was completly wasted on me, and everyone else there.
