RROD display 360.

I love my 360 to death but man, that can't be good for MS....

Not surprised. I've walked past PS3s, PS2s, Xbox 1, etc etc frozen up/not working/dead at Wal-Marts, Targets, etc all the time.

Leaving consoles running all day every day in the confines of display cases eventually will result in death.

Every console I've seen in Wal-mart/target has failed. 360/ps3/ whatever...

it's a closed case with no air circulation.

What I don't get is why don't stores do anything about it? I've seen some of my local electronic/gaming stores leave that display as it for days on end.

I've seen that before. What was so funny about it is it was happening at the same time at ALL the local Targets.

Why the heck would they do anything? I've rarely seen a display console working correctly since atari and even then it was spotty.

What? You expect the bubbling water fountain rock display to work perfectly all the time?

My local Target got rid of their display 360 about a year ago. I used to play PGR 3 while waiting for the wife to finish shopping.

I gave up on their PS3 because it kept freezing on me (probably because of confined space)

Their display Wii doesn't even do anything.

You know, the red rings don't always mean that the console is shot. Sometimes it just needs a reboot.

My guess is only the official reps are really supposed to deal with it.

Wrong and what do expect, look where they have it running...anyone ,well most people can think ahead enough to see the space is cramped and not a real air mover, any machine would cook in that closed space..

remember the PS3 suffered from this with the demo units. Being locked up in those cases ain't good for any system really. And yea, not all RROD's are the sign of death, just maybe got stressed a little.

edit:
it's like the BSOD. It can pop up, you not understand the reason for it at all.. and it never pops up again.

Back right before the PS3 launched the one in my local Wal-Mart was always (and I mean 100% of the time) frozen.

Yep. I could never play a PS3 at Walmart or Target when they first came out because they were 100% frozen.

No, you are wrong. This is what happens when misinformation gets circulated and becomes a myth. RROD does not always mean death, I have read from plenty of people who have gotten it, turned off their unit, let it cool off and after that it works and they may never get it again.

Doesn't the red ring show up when the video cable is not attached properly as well?

Strange, mine's done that twice (3 quadrants). The power cord was loose. Still going great since launch day.

Technically, the RROD just means there's an unspecified hardware error. No more, no less.

All of those display systems die. Only one I haven't seen die is the GC at the local Wal-Mart, and it's been the same one since launch :Q

You have me worried now because I am leaving my ps3 on all the time 24/7 and it's usually folding but I go from folding to assassin's creed back to folding.

You should only be worried if it's in an enclosed space. All the demo units have them housed inside a tight locked cabinet so the heat can't go anywhere. It's no wonder none of the demo models work... I'm actually more surprised when I see one that actually IS running.

Heat will do that to a 360. There is no ventilation in those cases. I see dead 360's, Triples in Walmarts and Targets all the time.

Ape Out.
