This card good for gaming?

I think I might get an ATI Fire GL X1 128MB. I'm leaning towards this card for its dual DVI so I can run my Dell FP1901s. I was looking at some Nvidia FX 5600 based cards, but I don't like the idea of spending $200 on a card that MIGHT not run DX9 games very nicely. I'd rather spend another $50 and get a GL X1 on ebay or something. I know this is mainly a workstation/CAD card, but it should run games just fine, right? Any input is appreciated.

i dont think it'll run games too well, i may be wrong but i think the architecture on these cards is different when compared to a 9800

The card would run games like crap. Its not the architecture that is different cause they are the same card in different underpants, it's the drivers. Yup, you guessed it, a $3000 driver. The driver is not meant for gaming and you will get crappy performance.

I don't know anything about that particular company's reputation, just posting it for display. Newegg has them listed at about the same price, but it shows them out of stock. If you can find one, it should outperform any dual-dvi FX 5600 you are likely to find.

Yes, people mentioned it over in the dual-dvi thread, but another person said that HardOCP reported that it was being cancelled.

There might be cards that have a DVI and Analog Out in the back but come with and Analog to DVI conveter cable, try looking for that.

I don't think so (not that I own this card).

Unless the card is a $500+ rebadged 9700/9800, I'm sure that FireGL will be based on older technology, and will run very crappy for games.

Stick with ATI Radeon (9600 Pro, 9700 series, 9800 series).

FireGL cards are workstation OpenGL cards. They're usually tweaked versions of the Radeons, with OpenGL optimized drivers, but games will probably suck on the cards unless you can get 9700/9800/9600 drivers to work on them.
