I used to complain about the sub-forums, then the forum format change. But now 95% of the time I can't even get to the forums even if I wanted to. How many other people are getting the ERR_SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR? A long thread in the forum technical issues page has gotten nowhere. If I can't log in most of the time, how many other people are trying and giving up?
This problem was occasional a few months ago. But each passing week it gets worse and worse. I just can't get pings from 174.76.226.162 or 174.76.226.148. I have tried on multiple computers, in different cities, with different service providers and no ping most of the time.
I know it seems like this problem is falling on deaf ears but if they don't know it's still happening they'll never look into it further.I've been getting that with icecat mobile. In fact, it just happened. Got notice to 'restart to complete changes', and it works now. Happens very rarely with firefox mobile. If it starts again, I'll try to nail down the issue. httpseverywhere is a possible culprit.
I tried to tell that jackass that was pushing for it that it wouldn't work. Oh well. Then he rage quit. Dumbass.
I don't think they care. It works for the preponderance of people, and that's good enough. We'd still have only two shitastic themes if not for community volunteers that did the work.I know it seems like this problem is falling on deaf ears but if they don't know it's still happening they'll never look into it further.
I'd suggest posting in that thread in TFI as they'll never see it here.

Psst (you and I are the last two posters there).I know it seems like this problem is falling on deaf ears but if they don't know it's still happening they'll never look into it further.

Btw, disabling httpseverywhere didn't seem to help. Not sure why icecat breaks, but firefox works.
Same, I was having it, and I stopped getting it, still using both of those.I think that was happening to me a while back, it started sporadically but then it was literally every time I came here, happened on Chrome and Firefox (and Edge too if I remember right). I googled some things to try to fix it but they didn't work. Then one day it was just resolved and haven't had an issue since. I never disabled HTTPSEverywhere or ad blocking or even changed the scripts I was allowing with NoScript.
Yeah, i know. The problem stopped for me. The only point i was trying to make is that if they don't know the problem still exists for people then they won't try to fix it & i'll bet they're not reading this thread, that's all.Psst (you and I are the last two posters there).
I disagree as to the extent of the effect of social media. Other forums I am a part of are thriving as AT gradually dies. But then those other forums don't lifetime ban many of their most prolific and popular users. Users generate the content on forums, and by getting rid of them, you're gradually causing the forums to die off. I'd say more, but then I'll get banned again under the much abused "mod callout" rule.
I'll say this though: I've never seen mods on other sites generate so much hate that users went out and created their own forums. And AT users went out and created three other forums by my last count.
I learned early on that the guys from Purch do not give a s--t about improving these forums. They'll just ride it into the toilet and blame something else, like the rise of social media or something.
Works for me. Have you checked your "alert preferences"?I don't understand why we have the watched threads option, it does not work for most of the threads i post in. Even threads i create do not show up on my watched threads list.

I guess I was conflating the two since I mostly either count on the alerts for threads/forums I'm "watching", or check "my content" to keep an eye on threads I've posted in but that haven't had recent activity. I'm not sure about the "Watched Threads" link itself, offhand I don't remember ever checking it before, but I'll try to remember to keep an eye on it over the course of the day and get back to you...I realized Alerts do the same thing as the Watched Threads link and use that now but does your Watched Threads work? Mine does not 90% of the time.
TridenT is the only reason I'm still here.
Oh and Kaido as I still have more kitchen gadgets to acquire.
