I'm betting either the Phillies front office or one of the players comes through with playoff tickets for that family and gives them a whole box of signed balls. That kind of publicity for the team is priceless.

It was cute, it was funny, the kid was innocent and didn't know any better, the dad handled it great. I get all that and simply laughed and shook my head when I saw it happen live. I decided to go with a slant against the kid by calling her "kind of a dick" (which should be innocuous enough anyway) for what she did to grab attention. That's all, give me a break.

I was at home sick today watching wayy too much tv and the guy was actually on msnbc giving an interview. He said he and his daughter play catch all the time so she naturally thought that is what she was supposed to do with the ball. Even then a philly's exec ended up coming up to them later in the game and offering another ball and they held on to it.
