Here's a novel idea for you: If you see a yellow light, STOP! You did the crime, now you're just being a whiny little girl about doing the time. Drive smarter and you don't have to worry about it. At most intersections you save 30-45 seconds by running a yellow. Does it seem worth it now?

You have to stop for a red light, not a yellow light. You may go through a yellow light. Yellow tells you to be carfeful because red is coming. BUT IT WAS STILL FVCKING YELLOW.

God, I hate when people act like they're perfect little angels.
Don't act like you never ran a yellow light before.
I rarely ever see anyone stop for yellow lights before.
In fact I see alot more people run red lights than people actually stopping for yellow lights.
So please don't act like you're this perfect of a driver.

actually, yellow does mean stop. It just not illegal to cross it while its yellow, but people have taken advantage of this loophole into law.

Whoa does your nuts hurt from riding on that high horse? Everybody has something like that happen to them at least once in their lives, and if it hasn't, it will. So stfu and let the man rant.

Oh boo freakin' hoo!! :brokenheart:

Yeah, it happens to everybody at least once in their lives. The difference between "everybody" and this loser is that most "everybody"'s can take it like an adult and admit that they were wrong. I don't have any special hatred for anyone that speeds or blows through yellow lights. I do however have unlimited contempt for any crybabies who feel the need to whine about it. If you get nailed grow the hell up, pay the ticket and learn your lesson.

Quotas are illegal by federal law in any law-enforcement practice.

You probably just got an anal cop on your ass. Challenge it. Tell the judge that the light was yellow, you didn't have time to slow down, and you made a rational driving decision.

Hell no. I'm not about to give excuses that I couldn't slow down. There is nothing in the world wrong with going through a yellow light even if I could slow down.
Apparently that light was yellow before you entered the intersection, else it would not have been RED before you exited. STFU, you are wrong and should PAY the FINE.

I don't know how laws are in other states, but in Texas technically yellow means stop. It is there so you don't go from "GO" (i.e. green) immediatly to "STOP" (i.e. red) and have an accident, therefore there is an intermediate light (i.e. yellow) that you are supposed to stop at. Most people think it means slow down, but why in the hell would you slow down at that particular time?
You do, though, have right of way when you are passing thru the intersection when the light turns yellow or red.

If the light was red while you were in the intersection, you ran a red light.

Not "but it was yellow when I entered the intersection"

Correct! Yellow means stop. It's there as a buffer zone to gradually transition from green to red so that nobody needs to slam on their brakes. If you're in the intersection when it goes from green to yellow you're clear. Too many idiots (cough ThePresence cough) think it means "go ahead through the light". Get it through your heads people, it's not optional. If you see the yellow you are expected to stop and failure to do so is at your own risk. You risked, you lost, nobody gives a damn, grow up.

i know the same thing happened to my friend, he argued that the cop was standing on the other side of the light and therefore couldn't have seen whether it was red or yellow and he won the case. The cop tried to pull crap like "i know the timing of the lights perfectly", but he won at the end. try arguing that if that is the case. good luck.

I thought as long as you entered the intersection while the light was yellow you were fine? I think that may be what happened to The Presence and, if it was, I agree that it royally sucks.

And all you high and mighty wankers can stuff it.

personally, getting caught for a violation for something you didnt mean to do deserves a rant.

I got a speeding tix last time my girlfriend's family came into town. I was driving her sister's car with kids in it when I got pulled over for speeding. I mean, yes, I did do that, but no, it was not on purpose. It sucks to pay such a hefty fine for an accidental violation. If I was cruising in my sports car speeding knowingly, then yeah, I wouldnt feel as bad about it. I think certain situations deserves a rant.

OK heres a statement from a guide book.

A steady yellow traffic light means the traffic light is about to change to red. You must stop if it is safe to do so. If you are in the intersection when the yellow light comes on, do not stop but continue through the intersection. A flashing yellow traffic light means slow down and proceed with caution. A yellow arrow means that the protection of a green arrow is ending and if you are turning in the direction of the arrow, you should prepare to stop and give the right-of-way to oncoming traffic before turning.

Still, 95%++ of cars do not stop on yellow lights.

You thought wrong. If the light changes *while* you're in the intersection you're fine. If you enter the intersection when it's yellow it's at the cops discretion on whether or not you could have stopped. If he deems you could safely have stopped without running the yellow you're hosed.

Actually, yellow means to stop unless it is unsafe to do so or your stop will leave you in the middle of the intersection.

No, not the way I understood the law. Yellow is make every effort to stop unless you would never be able to even if you tried your damnest (like if you saw it turning yellow less than a second before you would be directly under it). If the officer thought you could stop safely, then you're getting a ticket. Like my driver's ed teacher said... yellow does not mean speed up either.

BTW, these lights in the burbs are slow and suck for this reason... gives you more ballz than you should have... If there's a cop that watched me at intersections, I'm sure I would've gotten at least 100 tickets by now.

Where did this happen ?

About that quota... I know a couple patrol officers that work the Queens area... I should ask them... lights in the city are quick too.

we should just remove green, and just have yellow and red. Traffic will flow faster too since people always speed up for yellow.

why does everyone and their grandma post about how unfair it is to get a ticket? Go to school, pay ticket, and be more careful.

Yeah, I'm sure Dubya gave him a pat on the back when he got back to the police station, you fvcking retard.
The only fvcking retard here is you who thinks that yellow means it's ok to enter an intersection.
Nice try to deflect the arguement away from the facts and into an emotional arena though, you blowhard crybaby.
Edit: Actually Your hero (dumbya) reduced resources to local Law Enforcement agencies and INCREASED funding to the new National Police Agency, known as The Homeland Security Agency. That would be the same group of people known as The Transportation Security Agency , who hire from the lowest echelon of applicants.
So I doubt that there was anyone to "pat him on the back" at the station other than a chief a sargent or two and a dispatcher.
