According to ESPN: Apparently the driver was a track/field/baseball star, and he's unable to play. The passenger has brain damage and one of his legs is permanently disfigured. The drivers med bills approach $200,000, and the passenger has had 13 sugeries with a bill aprroaching half a million, Makes me want to do some vigilante justice. Oh I wouldn't kill them, but I'd fvck them up enough so they couldn't play football for a while. :|

Is this the same story where the school did not take any disciplinary action? Rather they said they would discipline them after football season was over. The kids were players.

Yes. But consider the fact that they'd get cut for failing grades. Now they commit a felony, are sentenced to jail time, severley injure two schoolmates and they're still allowed to play?

Edited for spelling

yeap.

the little bastards should be serving time instead of playing.

edit: but it looks like a diffrent judge is going to sentance them regardless of football.

Judge Damian Vercillo, who was assigned to Manns' case because McKinley knows Manns' grandparents, said he would sentence the teen after he received a report and recommendation from the probation department

oops read it again the season has ended already

last thread lots of people defended the little asswhipes. kinda sad.

That's it? Juvenile detention? WTF...
That is a very light sentencing for such a harsh crime...
I swear the legal system is absolutely a joke...
Somebody please break their legs and arms, thank you!

Kids will be kids. Horrible prank that went bad. Don't throw the 18 year old in jail for life over it. I am sure he feels horrible about the situation.

Prank that went bad? Are you kidding me?
How can this prank have gone 'good'?
If the people didn't crash into the tree but instead spun out and merely broke their necks?
That would've been a 'good' prank?

BS. The only reason to pull a prank like that is the intent to injure/vandalize. This goes beyond simple teenage stupidity (kinda lol since I'm 19). If the kids feel so bad about the situation, WTF are they doing to amke ammends? I'd be trying to find a way to help pay the med bill at least. Granted, I wouldn't have pulled something like that in the first place.

No, I think the stupidity level has remained constant. But our technology has enhanced our ability to be more productive. This includes the level of "productivity" of stupidity. Stupid can do more damage now than ever before.

Fine. Death sentence, and harvest organs. At least he'd finally be good for something. A lot of people out there need those organs more than he does.

All I am saying is that the prank was likely not intended to seriously injure someone. Although certainly dumb, I'm sure they weren't saying "hahah, lets go get someone killed."

Keep in mind, our prison's are about rehabilitation not punishment. Does this 18 year old kid need to be rehabilitated and have not only 1 persons life ruined but 2 over a prank? While I agree he deserves some form of punishment, locking him up and throwing away the key isn't the answer. The worst punishment he can ever get is knowing that he took part in ruining someone elses life.

I am certain that the majority of people here have done things that they would NEVER do now because it could result in some serious consequences.

"Hahaha, let's go use Glocks to shoot people. Bullet wounds aren't always fatal, so we're not trying to kill anyone. Just a fun prank!"

I can see your logic if these are 12 year olds, but these aren't middle school kids...these are almost adults.

The fact that the judge is suspending sentencing until after football season is beyond preposterous. What the fvck...

.

what do you think is going ot happen putting a FAKE deer in the MIDDLE OF A ROAD?

you think people would laugh as they went bye? or do you think they would try to swerve to miss it? with a good possiblity of someone wrecking?

I am sure they had a idea that someone might have a bad wreck. it seems logical that putting a large object in a road could cause a wreck wich could seriously injure someone.

Mabey not, but the prank was :"Hey! LEts go put a fake deer in the road and watch people swerve around it! We're not putting anyone in danger! "

That, and according to my PSYCH100 notes, I'm pretty sure that the logic required to deduce this is developed sometime in elementry school.
