this sucks! here i am all ready to finish up the car stereo and i can't get the speaker through the little rubber boot that connects the front door to the inside of the car. oh well. i guess i'll just drink today instead.

efehle, you will have to remove the boot from both the door and the body of the car. What kind of car is it? Typically, there's a plastic insert with like "a shoulder" on it. One each in the body hole and the door hole. The boot has a lip that fits tightly around that "shoulder" and that's what holds it on. Removing the boot is easy; putting it back is the hard part.

Once the boot is slid off, it's relatively easy to snake the wire thru.

ok, its a 2003 eclipse gt. the problem is that the boot is one solid piece of rubber. i can kind of slide it one way or the other. but there is too much rubber for me to get enough moved to where i can just put the wire straight through. i'll probably attack some of it with my box cutter later on.

ps. the drinking is off now, friend wants me to go work out first.

Take a pic. DO NOT CUT THE BOOT, you moron. Don't cut the boot! It keeps water off the wiring <--generally a good idea, you know?

I would take a picture, but you would not be able to see it until I developed the roll. I know what the boot does, I was not planning on cutting it in a way that would let water in. It's hard to explain what I mean, but the part of the boot that is inside the car and the inside of the door goes on for like 3 inches. That was what I was planning on cutting, just enough so i could actually push the wire through on a straight shot.
