I just received in the mail the November 2000 catalog from Electronics Boutique and on page 76 for $599.99 is the Voodoo 5 6000 AGP.I doubt if I would have bought the 6000, but the thought of high resolution w/ FSAA did sound appealing.

Anyone know if 3dfx has a working version of their next generation video card?

I don't think you understand. I was asking if they did or did not have a working version of their next card. You know, prototype or something?

He understood. He was just being sarcastic and implying that even now 3dfx products don't work well--that's not true now...A couple of months ago their drivers SUCKED, but now they are good.

To answer your question, yes...they have a working version of "rampage"--their next chipset...

My bad. I had a feeling he was just being sarcastic but I'm new to this forum and haven't really gotten a feel for the temperment of the users yet. I like sarcasm though....

Pertaining to my original question, do you know how long a Graphics card company typically needs between the time they get a working prototype till they can release the product to the consumer market? I would imagine it depends a little on the particular company. From what I've gathered, 3dfx hasn't been putting out products very consistently. Any thoughts?

I wasn't bashing 3Dfx either, I have no brand loyalty & use whatever gives the best performance at the time.
