I think braces are fashionable! Did you get the colored ones? Also, does anyone remember Terrell Owens a few years ago and when he got braces. They looked great on him and I doubt he had a hard time meeting women.

Just keep your teeth clean ALL the time.

I had to have some major work done because mine were so messed up.

Braces for 3 years plus four (4) retainers afterwards. Two retainers behind the teeth, glued on and then two on front that I had to wear 24/7 for a year.

My teeth are straight but now they look funny because of decalcification. When they say not to eat candy--its the truth. I ate tons of candy and no matter how much you clean them, the sugar still gets deposited into the brace part and does damage to your teeth.

I also had some non-existant gum between a few teeth (they were so overlapped that gum was not there. Now I have two little holes between my bottom teeth that looks like crap. Figure I'll end up getting some surgery done to it (they cut your gums open and pull it up like a face lift, then it heals overtime and fills itself out) in about a year or twos time.
Its not that noticable to others but I still notice it.

Oh and clean your back teeth really well. Always floss. Thats about all I can say. Its a pain in the ass to maintain braces because it takes much longer to keep them clean

You are your own worst critic. I still dated during that time and it is possible to kiss and do .... other.... things with a woman while you have braces. Just learn how to manage with the braces and be more careful.

yeah.. let me know if you are going for a phd or not, cause i sure as hell am. nor can you spell "for" properly, motherfvcker. i have little self confidence cause i have no confidence from anyone in my family. you try being valedictorian of your class and have your parents still complain about academics. that's a big WTF in my book, i don't know about your's. so stfu unless you know what it's like in my situation
