those things are so big, it could be leaking like crazy. Seems like the engine worked so I'm sure it wasn't a total loss...but maybe the cost to fix it and get it back in service was too much.

Yeah, Nat Geo, or Discovery has a whole show on it.. It was quite fascinating.. And, also, seeing a bunch of dudes with crazy torches tearing these things apart with little to no protection made me cringe. They also spoke of common fires that occur, things collapsing, and also explosions from unlit gas.
