Ugh... now I'm starting to think I see patterns in the numbers (similar to "Beautiful Mind" or whatever that movie is) and am trying to play connect the dots with the numbers and pound signs.

Anyone get any other hints from the IRC channel? (IRC is on lockdown here at work).

Well, I have to admit I'm going to be pretty annoyed if it happens to be some crazy messed-up esoteric way of figuring out the username and password...

"Well, you see, I made this riddle because I like the pound sign. You can figure out the answer by staring at the screen, and pounding yourself in the eye X times for each pound sign, where X= the number of the pic".

Actually, I think I could be happier if someone could decrypt the '#=svok' bit. Should we be coding and see if we get returns of 0 or 100 if the service is running???

Hey guys. Long time lurker here, and I just signed up becuase I believe I have made some headway on puzzle 16. Okay, svok is a Unix command that checks to see if supervise is running on a certain service. If svok = #, that means that svok = ofei. I assumed that ofei was some kind of Unix program or service, so I did a search for "ofei unix". The first thing that came up was a resume, located here. I don't know if I'm on the right track, but I thought the resume was too much of a coincidence.

As far as the webpage goes, I am stuck. Any ideas?

No, I'm almost positive that the svok is just a coincidence. If you put in any 4 letter nonsensical word you'll probably get some result for a product, be it software or anything.

You're looking for a solution to what is given that will DIRECTLY result in a username and password. So some sort of middle man is unlikely.

The creator is German, and svok returns a few German websites. One of the returns had a page title that could be easily spelled with the letters given in the level number -> previous password conversion. Toelat or something. I explored with that for a while but didn't really get anywhere.

Holy crap... that is a nice coincidence... the word "supervise" is also found on that guy's resume.

Maybe the password is Oracle...

Now pulse is turning this into a major conspiracy for me. I think I almost sent that guy an email demanding to know what the password and username for #16 was.

Man I hate this stupid game.

/goes back to deciphering...

Well, apparently my idea was way off base. I asked about it in the irc channel, and I was told that had nothing to do with it. Damn.

Dear Mr. Mike Ault,

We know you know the link between #=svok and ofei unix. You will tell us the passcode for your name. If not, we will be forced to use 'alternate' measures of persuading you.

Sincerely,

Psycho Internet Stalker Guy

it did somehow by transcribing the 'number' into the x-th letter of whichever word and blahblahblah...

If you search this thread, you can find it, or here it is terribly ripped and paraphrased (from my open notepad, no less)

1: (0)#............ _________
2: (0)............. _________
3: (0)#............ _________
4: (3)............. HELP DOOM
5: (6)............. MINNIE MOOCHER
6: (1)............. THATS IT
7: (0)............. _________
8: (2)............. PITCH DOWN
9: (1)............. TURNMEON DEADMAN
10: (5)#............ HELLO STRANGER
11: (1)#............ FUNNY PASSWORD
12: (6)#............ MOBILE PHONE
13: (4)#............ DEVIL HELL
14: (4)............. DéJà VU
15: (4)............. REST PEACE

1 = _ (#)
2 = _
3 = _ (#)
4 = L
5 = E
6 = T
7 = _
8 = I
9 = T
10 = O (#)
11 = F (#)
12 = E (#)
13 = I (#)
14 = A
15 = T

_ _ O F E I

L E T _ I T A T

But i'm totally confused.

Oh, incidentally, the maker of the riddle game did say this (which I guess would prove ofei wrong???)

Spoiler: Svok is not in the username or password, it's merely a hint toward how to find part of the password.
Spoiler: Note both the numbers and the #'s in the pictures are important.
Spoiler: The username is 5 letters and the password is 6 letters. Neither are single English words.

I still think the # has something to do with what object it's placed on in the picture (unless it's a really evil red herring).

But that could be the word! "SPACE"!!!!

Hell... I have no clue. the #=svok has no meaning to me. I'm wondering if svok and mznvh have something in common. Hell... ever since people started talking about music and the MP3 and all the slightly-music-themed riddles and all that, all I could think of was a M a Z i N g V an H alen....

KillyKillall- Yeah, I don't like them either, but isn't the designer of the riddle German? Don't they dig Van Halen over there? Hell, I know they love the david hasselhoff...

The truly smart individual knows and thinks critically, because when it comes down to a big decision and no one else is around, he will succeed while the onlookers fail.

The truly smart individual is the one who knows the answer to 16 and is laughing at all of our pathetic attempts to figure our way through it.
