Anybody know what monitoring program he is using and where I can find it - in English? Went to the coolhardware.de page but that was a dead end since I don't habla the lingo.

Oil cooling is very commonly used with high powered electrical transformers, so it is certainly a viable way of cooling PC hardware, though it kills the resale value of any parts you use

The fan could still run. The oil is non-conductive, so basically everything can still work as normal. The only reason to have the fan on would be to cycle the oil in that area a little. Its not the best cooling solution though. You would need a very high rate of circulation of that oil in order to keep everything cool under todays CPU standards.

You know what's really sad? My CPU is more than twice the speed, and runs cooler than that with the retail Intel HSF...

They better hope they never need to reseat anything ... I don't imagine it's possible to clean off the dimm or PCI slots very well.

I"ve seen this done with fluoinert liquid which is MUCH cleaner and doesn't leave as much residue ... it also unfortunatly costs hundreds of dollars per gallon ...

Why did they use such weak processors if that stuff costs a lot? If i did something like that I'd freaking toss in a 3.06Ghzp4 or a 3000+ Barton and overclock it to hell.

Wouldn't need to get rid of oil resdue. Not if the card/ram slots seated properly. Meaning the metal digs into each other a bit and holds pressure, which if it doesn't do leads to instant or near instant instability in air.

Resale? Wipe off, clean with electronic parts cleaner. Big whoop.

Temps? Yes, temps...ah, but this is silent. Except the HDs which sadly are the loudest part of my 2700+ (single panaflo) system.

Piss colored? What do you eat? Lay off the red meat.

interesting stuff, mainly for the silence even if you did have a cpu fan running it would be muffled by the liquid i bet
