This car was at a local drag strip over the New Year weekend, and was able to run a 20+ second quarter mile with that FULLY FUNCTIONAL intake sticking out of the hood.

Yep, that is a regular old hat for the filter!! The people driving that car were some real country rednecks, as later in the day they ripped E-V-E-R-Ything out of the car except the drivers seat and took that high performance filter off to drop the car to a 19ish second quarter mile.

Sad thing is I've seen Civics click of 18+ quarters at the local track.... but they have big aluminum wings and stickers all over thinking it looks good and that their car is actually fast. You see them make their run and think that they have to be joking, but they really think it looks good and is quick.

Yeah, they're junk!
After a couple of hundred thousand miles, they start needing nickel & dime parts, and by 300K you can expect to have to replace some big buck items like Brake rotors and radiators!

Been my experience, anyway.

One funny thing about those cars...they actually had a very good safety ratings for cars of that vintage. They were particularly good in front end impacts IIRC...
