Last week the item was 100$ cheaper and had a free screen, so I went to the store and they changed my receipt date so I could receive the rebate.

Friday I cam home from work and I had a FedEx delivery wating...a second HD70 projector. (Note I did not sign for it). I scanned my credit card statements and did not find a second charge. I felt the right thing to do was call the 800 circuit city number...

What a bunch of idiots. Took me nearly 30 minutes to get to someone who could make sense of what I was telling them...."You sent me a second projector I did not pay for" Their response was to "take it to the store." Well, I explained to them that the nearest store was 30 min away and I was not going to do that. However, you can arragne for FedEx to come pick it back up....You have my phone number so let me know when you schedule the pickup. This still didnt get through to the customer service....they left it that I still need to take it back to the store?

Haha to sum it up I tried to do the right thing here and they were pretty rude about it.

If they make the right thing to do difficult for you... Then the only right thing to do is accept the second projector.

Hmmm, but.. If you don't return it, can't they sue you in small claims court or turn you over to a collection agency?

Similar thing happened to me when I was an undergrad. I moved into an apartment, called up the power company to let them know I was the new resident & to start sending me the bill. I spoke to someone, didn't get a bill a month later. Called them back up, this time got the person's name & such, & reiterated that I wanted them to bill me. No bill a month later. Called a third time, got that person's name, made the same request, & this time tape recorded the conversation. No bill a month later. At this point I told my landlady what was going on in case she had been getting my bills & somehow hadn't managed to tell me (even though she lived across the hall from me & I saw her pretty much every day). She called the power company. I then also called (for the fourth time), spoke with someone, got their name, then asked to speak to a supervisor & got their name (recorded that conversation, too). No bill a month later. I gave up at that point. No bills came, ever. They never turned the power off, either. I lived in the place for 30 months; probably saved >$1,500.

I'll only charge you $300 to set them up in your basement so that you can watch 3D movies with polarized glasses.

You made an honest attempt to give it back. If they don't wnat to have someone come get it, keep it yourself. GIve it a month and then sell it on eBay (or to me).

Uhh... he went to their website, purchase ONE item, got billed once. If they send him another, it's not like the delivery of a package will count as an informal contract or anything. In any case, over $500 or so, you need a formal contract. No matter how you look at it, it's CC's issue and not his.

Yea I was thinking about that but too many negative things can happen...

Will probably sell it on ebay (or have someone sell it for me haha I dont use ebay so I won't have a user rating)

I think the problem is that cc online will have no information that you ordered a product from them. Because the warehouse and call center arent next to each other communication here will be weak at best. Thats probably why they are insisting you return it to a store. It might be tough to get a pickup or label for a customer who is not in the system or for an item they have no record that you purchased.

But i mean I can understand why they were confused, im sure they don't get that call often. After figuring it out though I don't know why they couldn't get a label or pickup for you. It may be a little longer on the phone for you though.
