This RWW articles is ranking high in Google's search results for "facebook login". For people that use Google to get to Facebook instead of Bookmarks or the address bar, this is something of a problem

Check out the comments section, these people are typing in "facebook login" in Google to login to their Facebook account, then get all confused. Then the hilarity begins. These people actually believe that the RWW page is the "new" Facebook login.

But seriously, can any of you remember when you didn't know how the address bar worked? It boggles my mind that someone could be at http://www.readwriteweb.com/ and actually believe they're viewing facebook.

1. If I google for "facebook login" (minus) quote, the first page that comes up is www.facebook.com/login.php

2. Why wouldn't you use Google to access various pages? Remember that typing anything into the address bar of most modern browsers will do an "I'm feeling lucky" search for whatever you typed. I do this all the time. Saves me from typing www, .com etc.

The fact that these people use google to search for the facebook login page, manage to click on to RWW, then post on RWW complaining about how facebook has been changed.

That's pretty stupid.

Similar thing happened at work with 2 co-workers about 3 years ago. They used Yahoo as their homepage and had typed in 'google images' from the Yahoo search bar. It seems that someone had named the pictures of their genitalia 'google images' and these two ladies about had a heart attack when they realized they weren't looking at a man holding a pair of grapefruits and a tall banana in his lap.

We explained to both of them that it was best to type www.google.com into their browser URL window, THEN look for the link to google images on the top from here on out.

I know some of those people are trolling... but not all of them.

I now realize how clueless some people can be and yet still use the Internet at some level.

It reminds me of a co-worker from years ago when we were learning how to use a CAD program. She would make the most baffling mistakes and the rest of us could not comprehend how she did some of the things she did. Later we realized she had almost no comprehension of how the software worked. She would just either memorize or write down a series of steps to get something done. If she missed a step, or the sequence did not quite apply to the specific situation, or she accidentally chose the wrong command, she would happily continue on anyway.

We used to joke that if she ever bought a car with the gas cap on the opposite side from what she had at the time, she'd pull into the station and smash the nozzle right through the fender where the old car's gas cap was, because "I just did it the way I always do - why isn't it working now?"

First page, sure. For us people that know how to google. The first news article, and also the very top link on the page, is that article.

If you think back to 2002, the big news was Friendster. For many of us, it was the first time we'd joined a social network and we went wild adding friends. Then, in 2003, Myspace came along and we slowly started adding these same friends on Myspace until one day the virtual cobwebs became too much and we left Friendster altogether. And then came Facebook and we did it again.
Let's face it - if we can avoid it, we'd rather not do this again and that's precisely what Facebook wants. Facebook has already become the dominant platform for social networking, but as it expands its business in other directions, we will begin to see it pull users away from other businesses too. This partnership is not only about preventing that, but further solidifying Facebook's place as our one, true login.

What they either dont know, or are completely ignoring, is Google now has a social network site. And traditionally Google has been ridiculously successful where other groups have only been really successful. I dont care about social networking sites one way or the other, BUT, I suspect Google will dominate this in a year or two.

We should start building underground bunkers now. And be ready with the Magneto-Guns for the Google Kill Bots.

I know she's at a "normal" weight here, but with all the stuff hollywood puts out there, it just looks OFF. You just don't expect full figure in this sorta outfit anymore. Especially arms flab.
