This is what we deal with in S. Florida with illegals

http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/t...i-manslaughter-after-fiery-crash-2053139.html

One person was killed early this morning in a fiery crash on Military Trail, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office said.

The accident, just north of Community Drive, took place at about 6:45 a.m. A red Toyota Corolla driving southbound ran several red lights according to a witness, before it slammed into a Toyota SUV, creating a fireball on impact.

The driver of the SUV, who remains unidentified, died at the scene.

The driver of the Corolla, Edson Ramirez-Jaimes, was arrested and charged with DUI manslaughter, vehicle homicide, DUI with serious bodily injury and driving without a license. An injured passenger in the car, Angel Rodriguez, was transported to Columbia Hospital

Edit: apparently the suspect was a citizen or at least legal. Most of my points on this have nothing to do with this one example, but the many that happen here. It's estimated that only 1 in 3 carry insurance on our roadways in S. Florida.

They blantantly break the law while already breaking the law thinking they are beyond the rules. There is a whole house of these types right down the street with every license plate already expired on the same month 2 years ago.

These same people blow through the stop signs in the neighborhood and approach 55-60mph driving down our 15mph roads. I was burying cats and racoons alot a few years ago but now I stepped up my food efforts and they mostly stick to the wooded area and school behind my property.

I was set up a couple years ago to hit a dude that is still driving to this day without a license or insurance. The courts have him listed as indigent even and he skips is $20 payment plan.

He tried to sue me for $1,000,000. Then $300,000...then my insurance company threw him a check for $10k and he was gone.

If you think that is bad, our city is under siege. Everyday a couple more places are robbed. Last night someone got shot at a Zaxby's during a robbery. And I'm pretty sure it is always the same perp.

If I recall correctly, NYC started cracking down on smaller crimes, and the result was the bigger crimes going away. Around here, the police will investigate just about any crime. Someone driving up and down the same road with a loud exhaust? The police will go out and find the person. (Seriously; and this was in the police reports here.)

If there are cars with obviously expired plates parked in your neighborhood, then it's your fault and the fault of all the other taxpayers to settle for such inferior services from your local police. If you have an excessive number of uninsured drivers, it's your fault and the fault of the other citizens in your state for voting for the incompetent rule-makers. That's not to say that these problems don't exist in other states; but it sounds like the problem exists a hell of a lot more frequently in some particular states.

I see that it's estimated that 23% of drivers in Florida are uninsured. In NY, it's 5%; I'm guessing it must be higher in some part of the state than around here, to make up for what I'm aware of via police reports & court reports. Reason: uninsured drivers are dealt with as harshly as DUI. NY, Mass, Maine, and a few other states do some sensible things to minimize the number of uninsured drivers. Insurance companies *are required* to report to NY as soon as a driver's car insurance lapses. In fact, you cannot cancel your insurance unless you've already turned in your license plates. Perhaps if Florida demanded that their drivers be more responsible with their obligations, they could eliminate some of the irresponsible people from the road. Forget to renew your registration, and you don't get to go to court and say "I did it right away after the officer stopped me." It's "guilty, pay the fine." Inspection tags are on the windshield, are fairly large, and are color coded. They stick out like a sore thumb if they've been expired for too long. And, the days of paying the guy at the garage a few extra bucks to pass it anyway are over - your car's computer is hooked up to the state before it can pass. i.e. code for emissions or something, and there's no way in hell that you're getting an inspection sticker.

It's actually more than 30% when dealing with just S. Florida. However, the topic is now moved to the prison yard so I am going to stop contributing.

I wasn't looking to call out someone local to me that is dangerous.

Thanks!

California deals with the same shit daily.

The illegals come here, ignore our laws...break them with impunity, then run back to Mexico.

Everything from car accidents with no insurance to murder...

We have a strong Mexican gang presence here...many of whom are illegal immigrants.

Atleast you are not in CA, hopefully your taxpayer dollars will not be used to put him in a chartered plane back to his country to prevent him from persecution.

A truck full of Hispanics once blared its horn on me in a Home Depot parking lot because I came to a complete stop at a stop sign.

That's the extent of my bad driving experiences with illegals.

Oh wait, just last weekend an old Honda Accord blazed through a Fresh & Easy parking lot to cut traffic and nearly hit someone holding their bags of groceries. I was just leaving myself, and when I ended up side-by-side with him he had the most amazing Mexican-style mustache. For his great taste in facial hair I forgave him.

This is a drunk driving problem, not an illegal problem. If it really upsets you, you might could join an organization against drunk driving.

My wife was also sued by an illegal. One that pulled out from a gas station directly in front of her and stopped at a green light. 100 foot long tire marks from the locked up wheels and she ended up impacting at roughly 10mph. Just enough to dent the bumpers. The lady was walking around and yapping on her cell phone until she heard sirens, then she went back in the car and started crying. Sued insurance company and GOT 10k, despite our best efforts with witnesses to show she wasn't actually injured.

Why are ppl with DUIs that ended up with deaths are only sentenced for short period of time.

There was an incident of a drunk illegal immigrant driving the wrong way on 95 in So. florida a few years back and ended killing 4 people, 2 of them children. He got a maximum of 28 years in prison. He was drunk, had no license, and was here illegally.

FL insurance co's are required to do the same, I let my insurance lapse for a week once ( I forgot the renewal date) and got a letter from the DMV stating that if I don't call them or use their website to give them my ins. info my license will be suspended. Problem is people will plunk down their initial payment to get the ins but not make any further payments then just drive with a suspended license while sometimes stealing the decal off another plate to avoid getting pulled over.

Neighborhoods can change quickly here (FL), and as long as the real estate situation doesn't get much better it's going to remain a crappy time to sell..

Florida has always been like this. If you can't afford to live near the beach, in a nice mcmansion, then it's a risk to move there. Aside from all of the ridiculous crap that happens there, it's pretty well known to either be >1 million dollar houses or slums... Not much between the two.
