What did you achieve by the time you were 20?

Oh yea, well I graduated high school when I was 12, graduated top of the class at Yale at 14, got my Phd at Harvard at 16 and my first nobel prize at 17, got a gold medal in the olympics at 19, and have a 12" c0ck.

Seriously, how would you ever have a life? Have you ever even touched a boob?

I didn't realize you had such a good sense of humor! And such an overactive imagination to boot! I see big things in your future, LOL!

Hey, just because you couldn't do anything noteworthy at a young age, does not mean no one else can.

Hey I had three degrees and I could speak six languages when I was nineteen. How 'bout you Corn? I heard your numbers were 4 , 7 and 18.

No, but the way he stated it, it is as though ALL professors are trying to impart their political leaning on to their students, and as a result, most people on a college campus are gullible, naive etc. Except for him who supposedly went to college, may or may not have been influenced by professors, but has saved himself by becoming a conservative. He may not have meant for it to sound so extreme, but it did.

I would imagine that any professor cannot help but let some of his own personal ideolagy slip through into his teaching. Add in the fact that the majority of college professors are liberal and he has a valid point.

Young people are also more suseptible to influences from their teachers.

I have found that the more people feel the need to boast about their education or how enlightened they are the less the chance that they are either one.

Wow, I did not realize that graduating from college at 20 and being able to speak more than one language was grounds for genius. Is it really that unbeleivable? Either I am a lot smarter than I gave myself credit for, or you guys are really, really ordinary.

Well let's see, I assume that you are saying you graduated high school at 16 which is somewhat believable since a lot of schools probably have 1 or 2 kids that do that (though probability of a given person is unlikely). A typical 4 year degree is about 120 or so credit hours. Add to that another at least 40 credit hours for the 2nd degree and then of course the time it takes to learn 5 languages, all within 4 years...... It's not impossible I suppose but if you did, you had no life and have probably never had a girlfriend cuz of course you were quite the nerd to be so focused. Let's just say it's his highly improbable and I don't believe it. Even if it were proven to me, I would just feel sorry for you.

I wouldn't have mentioned it if he did not act as though I had no basis for my beleifs. My political views stem from my education, and my interest in world affairs. The fact that I've had the opportunity to travel and learn about other cultures and languages has given me a different perspective on things. I wasn't boasting, I was mearly pointing out that he had no basis to call me ignorant without having any background on me.

You are right, young people are more suseptible to influences, but I think you underestimate the intelligence of many college students as well as their ability to have independent thought. Furthermore, and I am speaking from my personal experience, unless the course is based on political or philosophical matter (obviously not limited to these fields), there is really little or no venue for professors to offer their political view points. If you're studying economics it is hard for your professor to, for example, give his view on the war. Same concept for classes related to most majors. I can see this argument being very pertinent to a small liberal arts school, but not at a large state university.

Is it really that unbeleivable?

For someone who has demonstrated his functional illiteracy in quite a few threads, it most certainly is.

I have lived overseas for a large part of my life, that is how I learnt to speak five languages, and that is also why I hold a lot of the views that I do. I did not learn them all in college. As for credit hours, you forget AP classes, and CLEP tests (up to sixteen hours of credit for each test), which I took a fair amount off, enought to get me sophomore standing by the time I actually started. And I took summer school, a lot of people do. I started school early, and I skipped second grade (no great achievment), and that's the only reason why I was so young, not because I was a prodigy. And beleive me, you don't have to give up your life to do what I did.

So you're still in your lower 20's? You still have time to change your outlook on life.

That means they are the kids of hard working americans who didn't spend enough time brain washing them into accepting all that is because at 50k a year Daddy must be rich or they'll need a good job to pay off the loan... either way someone has to do it otherwise accountability will cease to be an issue... unless everyone trusts everyone.. like the middle class does... I guess... I'll ask Moonbeam.

Nice insult?

You do realize that people work evenings and nights? And we even contribute to the economy!

Does that foot taste good?

What foot! Put simply, Tiger made a stupid statement that insulted the Police, Fire, Medical, Military professionals, and even us lowly non-essential people who do essential work to keep the companies we work for going during the "day" shift. I made no mention of people not working during the day.

And you will probably still make 50K/year 30 years from now, when 50K won't be worth $hit. Where did you go, ITT tech? VCR repair, paralegal, guaranteed job placement? Kudos, someone has to do it, better you than me. Good for you skipping college! At least now we have an explanation for why your a dumbass. Besides, if you actually read my post you would see why I mentioned it and why you don't have to be a nerd to achieve it. Of course, I'm sure education in general is irrelvant to you, so what does it matter.

Besides, if that's not what you were trying to say, what exactly were you?

If you think because you have even a single college degree that your opinion is worth more then anyone else who doesn't you're a joke. Book smart does not translate directly to intelligence. Look at Bush, he could obviously memorize whatever sh!t he had to through college and he is a fooking idiot. What you learned in college has nothing to do with the strength of your political views and your ability to debate over them. You're not supposed to be influenced into taking specific political views and the strengths that view has unless you're being brainwashed.

Any intelligent person can argue their political views validly regardless of how many degrees or what field their degrees were in. Anyone who tries to shove their education down someone elses throat to try and prove that their view is somehow more correct then another person's has committed the same fallacy as a person who has resorted to personal insult because they can't argue their pont.

I was responding to his insinuations that I was ignorant. I was irritated, but now I regret ever having mentioned it.

No i actually went to a private tech school that took me 2 years and 35k later to get through. ITT is for chumps and i'm pushing 6 digits on my salary already at age 26... College its a waste and its obvious that you prove that theory... Ambition will get you a lot farther than a Bullsh!t degree on its own ever will...
