If my memory serves me, the US has been involved in a very similar situation (fighting a limited war against insurgents/guerrilla fighters) in Iraq and Afghanistan for several years now. Why are these not comparable to the war with Lebanon?
Who said they weren't? But in a way, they are not. The governments of Iraq and Afghanistan have been overthrown.
My point was that the US and Israeli armies can be compared based on their success against Islamic insurgents in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Lebanon, respectively. I don't think Israel did any better than the US has done.
