Stabilized Footage of the JFK Assassination Is Unsettlingly Real

article: http://gizmodo.com/stabilized-footage-of-the-jfk-assassination-is-unsettli-1465136863

vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sqk3sdfXFkc

highlight:

When it's bouncing around and playing back at a jittery 18 frames per second, the infamous Zapruder footage of John F. Kennedy's assassination feels almost unreal. But when it's stabilized with additional interpolated frames bringing it to a steady 30 frames per second (like we're used to seeing on TV) it suddenly becomes much more real.

I don't understand the macabre fascination people have with this.

It's tied to one of the biggest conspiracy theories in history. Until we really know what happened, this will always be a bullet point in the outline of our country's history and one of the loudest echos in our memories.

And ...

I for one don't need to see the Zapruder footage enhanced and stabilized.

I see what you did there.

Sigh. I guess I should get ready for all the upcoming JFK threads with this year being the 50th anniversary.

People should watch the nova documentary on it. It's very intesting. To me it did not prove beyond a reasonable doubt that LHO acted alone, but it did give very solid evidence that all shots came from behind.

When I was a child I would visit his childhood home, which became a museum. This home was very small. I would go to a candy store 3 or 4 houses away, that isn't much larger than a walk in closet, and I wondered what he was like as I enjoyed my candy and looked at it.

That candy store is still there.

So don't fucking click it and get the hell out of the thread. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean others aren't allowed to want to understand what happened. Stable video can help trajectory assessments, blah blah blah.

I don't really see any enhancement, TBH

We have a tendency to stabilize the images in our head anyways. Sure, this is easier to view, but not really showing it to me in a way that would cause me to experience it differently.

It's a dude getting shot through the neck and head, while riding in a car, with his wife right next to him. Jus as horrific now as it was before.

You think that you matter, don't you? You think that your opinion is valuable, don't you?

We know what happened. Oswald did it alone. There is no shot from the grassy knoll.

http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/tech/cold-case-jfk.html

Actually, an Australian doing some work recently has proven that one of the bullets passing through JFK's head was from an M16 from a secret service agent sitting in the car behind JFK's car. He was untrained with the M16 and had never even touched the weapon before being issued one on the day of the assassination. The SS has been trying to cover up the blunder for decades.

The point is, what the public knows isn't always the truth. There are people who stand to gain from lying. I'm nowhere near a conspiracy theorist on this or anything else, but I refuse to accept the neatly wrapped story that the government hands out on most issues.

Was a pretty good conspiracy-theory doc on Netflix, which basically said George Bush (CIA) and big corporations were the ones behind the shooting, because of Kennedy wanting businesses and the rich to pay their fair share.

And yea, I take it with a grain of salt, but a very similar thing happened - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_Plot . They call it a hoax today, but the committee that investigated thought it was real.

I'd say it's plausible that big business and the rich seeing their fortunes shrink would resort to anything. Whether it is true, who knows, but interesting.

I don't understand the macabre fascination people have with this.

I was actually thinking about this for a while now...

I *think* (ONE OF) the reason(s) for this fascination is that the event happened back in a time where there was no internet, gore-sites etc.etc.

It happened back in a time where everything was peace, fun and happiness, at least as the US was concerned. (Of course there was the cold war, but this was something abstract in people's life as opposed to affecting them directly).

Also..and this is maybe also important....unlike happenings today, there was no "live coverage"..no millions/billions of people seeing live how planes crash into buildings etc. The Z film, as is my understanding, was only released YEARS later...and then to an audience which STILL didn't have the internet and executions etc. at the press of a button if they so wish.

All of a sudden, there was footage showing the "reality" (after years where no-one actually SAW it....some frames were even censored when it was released first)...and this reality of the footage or images of a head-shot naturally was a shock for many.

You know...do you know your average crime drama, movie etc. from the 50s, 60s,70s? Ever seen a typical western? Someone get's shot..there is NO BLOOD, bad guy falls down..dead. No guts, no gore, Hollywood. Everyone can go home happily.

REALITY is...a head might in-fact "explode" when shot...and this is one reason the footage shocked. It's probably the first type of "reality TV" ever happened even when it was delayed from the actual event.

It was a mystery bullet.

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/jfk-mystery-bullet-lodged-body-nurse-article-1.1512283

Edit: I clicked the link. It does seem clearer and more stable than the original clip. I never believed in any conspiracy surrounding the assassination, but I will say this... those were two pretty impressive shots.

Also, people talk about the grassy knoll, but he clearly took both those rounds from behind and above. Doesn't seem at all ambiguous to me.
