This might be the most amazing guitar solo I've ever seen or heard

Is there a guitar solo that you've seen, but not heard? If so please tell me where I can experience such an event. Thanks.

The guy's good. No doubt about it.

Why is he not famous?

Probably because lightining fast notes are a dime a dozen, but true musical soul is one in a million.

I'd have to hear some more of his stuff.

He's pretty good. Just called my son in to watch for a moment, and my son wasn't impressed very much. A lot of music majors at his college play the guitar and, according to my son, are much better than the guy in that video.

It's kind of boring. I'll take a Wes Montgomery over him every day. If I'm looking for something crazy fast and technically amazing, while actually having musical depth I'll look for John McLaughlin.

This actually kind of sucks.

His back track is completely blaring over his guitar, making the untrained or musically dumb people to think he's doing a lot more then he actually is.

Nothing special at all. I can guarantee you the backup guitarist in a lady gaga song has 10x more talent than this.

I know people in my immediate musical acquaintance who could play that same fingering on an acoustic guitar or stuff way harder and pull it off perfectly (which is harder than on an electric).

Edit: Props to WildHorse... I posted something very similar in a Hendrix thread a couple days ago. SRV likely the best electric guitarist to pick up an axe from a technical perspective and SRV also had quite a mastery of musical art... he came up with some amazing stuff.

And of course I listed Segovia and Parkening amongst the acoustic guitarist (classical) and threw out Django Rheinhardt and Tony Rice as some other examples of impressive acoustic guitarist.

A modern guy that I really like is Eric Skye... plays his own compositions, some which are entirely original and others that are famous jazz masterpieces 'ported' for acoustic guitar... some them are just amazing. examples on youtube: Original piece, Blue Monk, Goodbye Porkpie Hat

I wasn't all that impressed. He's good, but the only part I found exceptional was his picking will all his fingers. Something that classical guitarists learn from the get go.

Wha?? Technically, he is truly phenomenal. He demonstrates absolute mastery and precision at just about every picking and fretting technique known to man - at the highest levels. I guarantee you could not get any legendary guitarist to agree with your sentiment that he is nothing special at all.

But he sounds 1000x better when he slows down to mere "mortal" tempos. Artistically (i.e. musically), he is boring. He's like the soul diva who over-sings for no other reason than because they can.

Listen up from 2 minutes and 0 seconds to 2 minutes and 30 seconds, he is barely playing anything and the backtrack is overwhelmingly loud. There are a lot of parts in the video where he's actually off time and then he gets back line with the song. There were a ton of guitar players in my high school music class that could to nearly everything in this video with ease.

He's not bad at all, but this is nothing special.

Then you went to a truly rare and exceptional high school. I've been playing guitar for 22 years, and I've never personally met or played with a guitarist who could demonstrate this level of technical proficiency.

I think you have it backwards. It takes a trained or experienced musician/guitarist to actually discern the individual notes he is playing very cleanly, as opposed to those guitarists who are blindingly fast but equally sloppy.

I've seen much better videos of his work TBH Fernando Miyata is an exceptional talent on the guitar. I'm not a huge speed metal guy, and some of his technique (palm muted runs come to mind) is kind of meh, BUT he has serious chops and I've heard stuff from him, I've not heard elsewhere. Damn good.
