So this thread got started by a computer geek who is pissed because some fat person parks closer to the door than he can. SO F*CKING WHAT!!! damn get a fricken life and stop worrying about others.

se7enty7, do you know the whole story about your fat co-worker? if not STFU!!!

I know she likes cheetos. I know she has her own mini fridge in her cubicle where she drinks dr pepper a 2 liter a DAY. I know she's so fat her chair is bent where she leans to the right side.

I know that if that's considered a disease then the US has gone to hell.

And you are an inconsiderate asshole, who bitches about anything and everything. Too bad that is not considered a disease, otherwise you could get your own handicapped parking spot. That is what you want, isn't it...a closer parking space?

I clicked no. I think extremely obese people should be able to park in handicapped. There has to be a line somewhere, though, between just overweight enough to be uncomfortable walking, and enough to not be able to walk because of the potential for injury.

I know a woman who has a back injury, and she has a temporary handicapped sticker good for a year and renewable once or twice. Maybe that should be done for obese individuals. Give them five years to put the weight off. If their eating/exercise habits don't change, they're going to die an early death. Maybe having to walk fifty more feet will give them a bit more motivation?

I feel sorry for the morbidly obese, so I don't mind if they want to park closer.

What would you guys rather have - having to park far from the door or 300 extra pounds? I'm sure any one of those fatties would gladly hand over their blue card for 200 less pounds.

Obesity is NOT a disability. The ones that you're referencing are people with thyroid problems and obesity is the result of that problem. The percentage of people suffering from thyroid problems is incredibly low.

The ones that are fat MADE themselves fat. Don't you understand? If people eat in moderation, exercise regularly, and avoid junk foods, the chances of them being obese (and I don't mean overweight) is relatively low. Fat people 98% of the time have no one but themselves to blame.

So people who are paralyzed in, say, skiing accidents, shouldn't get to park closer? How about someone who loses their legs in an auto accident they caused? It's their fault, why should they get a better spot?

It doesn't matter why someone can't get around, if they need the spot, they need the spot. Why all the hate?

I'm fat- 290, 6' 2". I have man-boobies. I eat more than I should most of the time, nobody to blame but myself. I can still reasonably run, jump, lift, etc. Then there are the people who eat so much that they need a walker/wheelchair, or have a circular profile. Being obese should never *ever* qualify somebody for a handicap parking space, unless they have a real, actual medical condition, not something the doctor calls them to make them feel better.

i'm aware that some people are gentically inclined to make more fat than others and some people have slow metabolisms, etc. but that doesn't change the fact that if you're getting fat, it's because you're eating too much for your activity level, plain and simple. all that genetic stuff does is determine how much is too much. it's a matter of self-control, or lack thereof.

the other day i was behind two hugely fat women in a checkout line at the hardware store and was wondering how they got that way. as i watched (it took a long time because they have like 500 things without price tags), one of them started looking at the candy rack. sure enough, she picked up a snickers, mumbling something about being "hungry." then the other one had to have one. by the time they left, they literally had 10 chocolate bars in their cart. question answered. i was hungry, too, but you didn't see me stuffing my face with junk food just cause it happened to be there.

Also, they should put fatty food on the top shelf at WalMart, so fat asses can't reach it from their Rascals.

As I recall once reading, the US has a higher rate of obesity than any other country in the world. Can it be that Americans are just more mentally unstable and physically defective compared to the rest of the world, just more proned to getting fat? Or maybe there are some other factors?

If Americans had the rate of obesity comparable to the rest of the world, I wouldn't have a problem with an obese person getting a handicap space. If there's something wrong with obese people, that it becomes close to impossible to lose weight, then I don't mind giving them such a convenience. However, with so many obese people in America it brings doubt to the legitimacy of their claim.

I recently visited Taiwan for 2 weeks. I have never seen so few overweight people.

I HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE FAT PEOPLE!

I'm not talking about the guys with beer bellys, or the chicks that are packing a little extra. Im talking about the people that way 300+ I can't stand a single fricken one of them. Usually they are idiots to begin with, but on top of that I have no respect for them, cause they can't even respect themselves.

I think you are being an idiot. Did you ever stop to wonder that maybe they have some other condition that they have the handicap tag for? They may be obese, sure. It's not healthy. But it's also A LOT harder to lose weight than it is to put it on. I'm overweight. And it's not because I eat all the time or I eat unhealthy. It's because I don't eat enough to keep my metabolism running. I just recently joined a gym though, been going every day for a month now. It's extremely hard on an overweight persons body to do all the movements required to lose weight with exercise which is why so many of us don't do it.

We/they tend to suffer from other complications that impede the progress of becoming healthy.

Maybe you should get off your high horse and stop worrying about what other people do, and mind your own business for once. So you couldn't park one space closer. Boo Hoo. Get over it.

Something like 20% of the people in this country are MORBIDLY obese. You don't need to see statistics to know that this is true. Now are you going to tell me that "all of a sudden" everyone is stricken with a special condition that only seems to strike in this country and this generation?

WHAT whole story??? That her crazy new medical disease requires her to go through a 2 liter or so of soda a day? It requires her to eat the twinkies and little debbie cakes stacked in her cubicle?????? WTF story would I be waiting to hear? Okay, she might have a thyroid problem. I don't give a f*ck or care in the least if she has so little self control/desire as to not eat that kind of crap.

Wow, so many people personally affected by "fat" people getting a parking sticker.. oh the humanity. I would question if anyone ever got a pass for fatness alone, I would imagine there is an underlying coronary condtion or something.
