Can we throw in Congress too as long as they agree to pick them up and move them to Beijing?

Seriously, how can any self-respecting American be OK with any foreign flag hanging on the White House lawn?! This is simply incomprehensible to me.

Is this not common for special events?

We raise your flag when your president comes to London and you bloody well raise ours when the PM goes to Washington. What could possibly be wrong with that?

So we automatically forget about their insane human rights violations??

Whether US corporations or international trade partners, money corrupts. That's why our liber... er, corporatist Democratic White House has basically put human righs to the side.

Funny, though, that you care more about the human rights abuses of a foreign nation, than you do about the human rights abuses of foreigners that happen by your own country.

So why is my Democrat president abusing foreigners then? How do I make it stop?

We are not at war with China. It's a diplomatic courtesy shown to almost any nation when high level dignitaries visit.

Would you right wingnuts feel better if the Chinese visitors were bound to their chairs and forced to watch the video the Obama administration you jackasses are so quick to criticize, even though you haven't seen or heard it and have no basis to criticize?

Or would you call out Obama as a torturer for applying the ancient technique known as "school boarding?"

What a pissant paranoid bunch of whiners!

Foreign flags are flown at the white house every time a foreign dignitary makes a state visit. I don't know the deets on this ceremony taking place as there's been very little coverage, not that that's stopping the freepers from suiting up in kevlar.

One can make an argument we shouldn't be "honoring" a communist country with an abysmal human rights record, but that's a separate argument entirely.

If this is the case, then I have no problem. If it isn't, then the outrage is justified. Can you provide info about this?

Oh, I'll be back alright. Any of you fucksticks who think my objections have anything to do with party or partisan hackery are barking up the wrong tree -- I voted for the same guy as most of you far-left douchebags. This is simply the first I have ever heard of such lunacy involving foreign flags in front of the WH, and I personally think that it's complete and utter bullshit that it has ever happened, under any President, regardless of their particular political affiliations.

This bothers me, plain and simple. Then again, I also tear up every time I stand and listen to the U.S. National Anthem; but I'm guessing most of you could never comprehend such a thing.

Some symbols obviously mean different things to different people.

Then you are simply getting your feathers ruffled over nothing.
It's a courtesy, nothing more or less.
The only reason it is being made a big deal of is because of clueless blogger decided to raise the alarm.
And from there well... *Cues up Yakkety Sax*

I don't see the problem as long as the flag of <insert country's name here> isn't raised higher than the US flag. Mutual respect is good.

The US is no paragon of human rights either. Better than China though.

One of the things I hated about Bush was his arrogance when dealing with foreign countries. I am hoping that Obama isn't as bad and actually attempts to improve relations with other nations.

Edit: Swapped "paragon" for "paradigm" - thanks Craig234!

You're right that it's a separate issue whether it's 'official practice', but he has a right to dislike the practice, andit should 'matter' as the opinion of a citizen.

We don't want to follow in the footsteps of 'Who cares what you think' George Bush.

I'm more concerned with their willingness to disrespect or disregard other nations than with their concern over the flag issue.

I suppose he has that "Right", but it just seems stupid to hold that opinion. It obviously hasn't resulted in a Takeover by X before he was Born and won't now either.

It has nothing to do with any perceived "takeovers."

I don't necessarily know why this bothers me so much, I just know is that it does. I guess I consider the WH to be hallowed/scared ground of some sort -- or a symbol of what I have spent my life fighting for...?

I'm ok with the fact that such things probably come across as silly, petty, or downright stupid to some other people -- such perceptions or opinions of me won't change my own opinion on this subject.

I never thought I'd say this, but thank you Craig.

What you fight for encompasses many things. Obviously, and not surprisingly(nothing personal as few can know it all), you don't know everything it is. Perhaps reading up on the issue would show why it works that way and the reasoning behind it.
