My wife likes her bananas when they are still green. Like so green they crunch when you eat them. And you can smell the gross unripen'ness of them from across the room.

She thinks *I'm* the freak because I like them after they have ripened up and are softer with maybe just a bit of spotting starting on the peel.

So posters of OT I ask....

How do you like your nanners? Ripe. Raw. Some where in between?

Green...but there is too green which makes peeling them very difficult. Once they get "ripe", esp. with any brown spots, they're ready for the trash.

in between, once they start getting a hint of the brown spots, they are too ripe, only good for banana bread at that point
peel should not be green, at most a slight faint tinge of green

they are supposed to be yellow

I buy them green - they seem to turn yellow and then get brown spots on them within a day or two. If they're ripe when I buy them they're spoiled before I've had a chance to eat them...

Solid yellow, but with no brown spots. They taste too strong when they get brown, but are better for cooking then(see bread above)

faint tinge of green at the edges, but a bright, solid yellow - these are probably the best bananas. I'll eat them when they've got spots, though - as long as the spots are tiny.

wtf do you all eat unripe bananas?

they need to be nearly all brown before they are good for banana bread


yellow with a couple brown flecks is about the peak for tasty eating but low mushiness.
