Like other people said, go out and do something other than work. You admitted yourself that you aren't the next Von Braun, so why hold yourself so high. Your skills are dime a dozen, if you haven't realized that yet in college, then you really missed something; figured that out in my first year.

I'm one year from getting my Civil Engineering degree, and haven't found an internship or any job related to it yet. Ok, I did, but turned it down cause the pay was worse than working for the welfare office (half of this). My current job sucks too so I look for stuff to do outside.

On a final note, you seem to have lots and lots of book smarts. You'll find that this will get you half-way or less in the real world. It's all about people skills you won't get from reading the next magazine religiously.

I can't program in C++ or Basic and I'm happy.

Move to Utah and be a ski bum for a season. I know some people with PhDs or Masters Degrees who moved out here to escape the life you just described. They understand that they will eventually go back to that life, but for now are enjoying life and everything it has to offer. Sure, they work a job that pays $9.50 an hour and have less than $1000 in the bank, but they are out doing everything they wanted to do and that's all that matters right now.

Things to do list for you:

1. Get laid, it could be a one night stand or a long term relationship but you're not ready for a long term relationship so avoid it.

2. Get ridiculously drunk and behave like an arse, laugh about it in the morning.

3. Start a fight, next time someone bumps into you, turn around and punch him in the face, take a beating if he gives you one but don't stand down.

4. Learn a skill that is outside your field, learn how to cook.

5. repeat step no 1 over and over until you mastered step no 4 and then you'll be ready for a long term relationship.

6. live well and prosper.

You seem to be very egoistical.

What is your goal?

Do you want to be a highly paid electrical engineer with a trophy wife or do you want to understand yourself and your philosophy of life?

What do you want?

You're living in a golden age that is about to melt away so you should decide fairly quickly.

Go join the military. There are tons of people out there younger and less-educated than you that are making more of a difference in the world than most people will do in their entire lives. And they can probably kick your ass.

This is what garages are really for. ;-)

There's your problem as far as jobs are concerned. In my limited experience (graduated may 06) companies much prefer someone with some real world job experience over someone with a ton schooling.

In general, people I knew without any internship experience while in school took lower paying jobs than people with some experience. It doesn't even necessarily even have to be related to your future job, they're just looking for any real world experience.

I don't really think programming is expected at all for a future MECHANICAL engineer...

Sounds like you need to take a year off and concentrate on WOW a lot more. Become a guild leader and get good at raids and find out what life is really supposed to be about.
