Why is anyone surprised? You have people whose self worth is completely tied into others approval. Almost universally these woman have large online presences (look at me, look at me), are extremely active on social media (Gimmie those likes, I need your approval), and just want people to approve of them. Even if the people approving are 16 / 17 year olds.
You could very easily do a profile on these folks just like a serial killer. Hell, I know a couple people who fall into this category and neither I nor my wife would let them anywhere near our kids.
On the same note, we've seen a huge influx of young teachers into all the local districts. Almost universally these teachers are incredibly immature, have no organization skills, and show no concept of responsibility. Every one of them act like they are in a frat house or fraternity. Some go so far as putting up regular youtube videos about how cool they are and how well they teach. I have more teaching talent in my big toe - and I'm an engineer. Oh, and two of them have already been arrested and convicted of rape.
