Didn't see this posted.

One online vendor has released a price list. The model numbers to be announced are 2200+, 2300+, 2400+, 2500+. It'll be reassuring to see AMD take the performance crown back.

Thats not a garuntee. A 2.53ghz P4 paired with PC1066 beats even a overclocked athlon XP 2400+ by a good margin. We'll see though....prices arent too bad.

The 2500+ will be nice, but I think what we are seeing an anandtech as commented about this in the last xp releases is it is about time to increase the fsb....bandwidth is limited to the theorectical 2.1gb...probably why the processor is not scaling as effectively with each processor mhz boost...

Intel with the switch to 533fsb and using pc1066 just can generate and deliver so much more peak bandwidth...which can be very influential in the right programs...

Now if they clock like reports and this chip can be unlocked and put at 166fsb then I think a 2500+ even left at default overall speed coupled with a good kt333 board and I think we have a winner.

Agreed the only way to get a good performance boost will be to OC the FSB. Right now i am waiting for a T-bred to replace my 1.33 T-bird @ 166 FSB. I will give 200 FSB a shot when i get a better Northbridge cooler for my Epox 8K3A. (It's in the mail.) Wish me luck i will try to post some benches when i get the T-bred.

hehe these T-Breds are gonna be more like mutts...

besides, those are OCed speeds... don't tell me that t-breds run cool at those speeds even with .13 cuz it just ain't true.

As we all know, there won't be any more durons in the future and T'bred XP will replace it..
You guys are comparing P4 to future duron or T'bred..
And T'bred will be much faster and is priced lower.. and you don't need a new motherboard or memory..
and it is said that ANY new T'bred can be overclocked to 2 ghz (2500+) with regular fan...
someone already posted @anandtech that ANY 2500+ T'bred can be oc'ed to 2.7 GHz.... that is like 10 times faster than any P4 2.0 - 2.5

If you want to compare, you should compare P4 to Hammer and hammer now has SSE2

ok ok, b4 u label me let me just let u know how false that statement is.

i have:

Dualie System
Athlon MP 1800+ (x2)
Tyan Tiger MPX
1GB Crucial DDR reg/ecc

2nd Gamer Rig
Athlon XP 1800+
Epox 8KHA+
1GB Infineon DDR

so i hope this clears up the fact that i do not hate amd... but i'll admit that i don't have any product loyalty. i refuse to stick to a product for any sentimental reasons or comfort level. my .02

"It'll be reassuring to see AMD take the performance crown back."

It will be "reassuring" to see AMD raise ther average selling price, and make a profit. People that "truly" care about AMD will want them to raise their ASP to a somewhat profitable level.

I doubt that AMD will release the Thoroughbred 2300+, 2400+ and 2500+ at the same time as the 2200+.

Ok Duke, fair point.

I've been and still am an Intel owner. I just drool at the prospect of a 2.7GHz T-Bred, as that translates to high Barton speeds too, which will drop right into my Socket A board, W00t!

Barton sure piques my interest. Sort of a final goodbye present for SocketA owners, as long as it's compatible. DBZ or anyone else, what's the word on what Barton is expected to jive with? Anything from AMD760 onwards I hope?

I must say, AMD has gotten lots of mileage (kilometerage?) out of the SocketA format.

I'd Love to see AMD continue the socket A nothing better than just popping in a new CPU and firing it up!

I'm sorry but that post has no fact anywhere. Or atleast enough fact to make everyone believe tbreds can hit 2.7ghz with ease. There are no specifics. Usually something that is a fact is very precise, this isnt.

Christoph83:

That was not a statement regarding my post, but the wild FUD of the reply, re-read and digest.

After listening to all the AMD trolls in rooms, and seeing all this stuff on the boards argument wise where AMD fanboys snap at any non "I want to dry hump the TBIRD!" words.... Its hard for me sometimes not to want to toss my lunch at the thought of an AMD chip, or any PC with one in it. But then I remember.... If AMD wasnt around... Intel chips would cost more. So in my world, AMD exisists so I can buy good chips cheaper.

If you take that as trollish, ok. I would see it that way if I was a fanboy.

Thank you.

Intel don't make me want to puke, that has to be a Fanboy(Intel) problem. LOL.

And yes, your post is the most obvious kind of trolling rubbish. You make no point in your post except to troll on AMD owners.

Go back to alt.welsh.intel.Fanboy where you belong.

I did actually make a pint. Concerning the behaviour of people who own AMD chips, and troll on me. It was a statement concerning the PR rating preachers, and the "AMD OWN0RZ YOU!" crowd. Im not a fanboy. Would I ever use an AMD chip? Sure would. If I ever saw one that I felt was worth running. I have no problem with MAD, just with the majority of the AMD owners that I have come across.

My point: Alot of AMD owners... give all AMD owners a bad name.

Same goes for Intel owners. I just havent seen alot of them so loud with their expression of their hatred for AMD. I suppose less 12 year olds can afford intel.

Is that so trollish?

Not a point that relates to the post though, is it? Hence trolling. Keep it on topic or create your own 'Why AMD owners suk nutz 4 bukz' thread.

I'm 29 and more than able to afford Intel(I have bought many in the past and been very happy with them), whats your point?

The facts are plain on Tbred Its a dead chip is old and used up like the P3 core AMD is trying to find lfe at the expense of the .13 micron equipment.

The truth is Hammer is in the same boat. deeply stacked pipeline only work whe they are short and al lower speeds then the TLB predictor dies out.

AMD needs a new core the problem is they havent designanything new just an add on AMD is going to have to 1: adopt the P4 cores basic design 1 signle long pipeline, or 2: totally overhaul the core and see what they get.

on another site i go to this guy who goes by Goat Guy has a great way to illustrate this race: Intel is turtle on streroid while AMD is a bunny on a beinge.

everyone knows how that race turns out.

AMD Atlon XP 2200+ (1.8 GHz) "Thoroughbred" - 347 Euro ($327);
AMD Atlon XP 2300+ (1.867 GHz) "Thoroughbred" - 382 Euro ($360);
AMD Atlon XP 2400+ (1.933 GHz) "Thoroughbred" - 406 Euro ($383);
AMD Atlon XP 2500+ (2.0 GHz) "Thoroughbred" - 437 Euro ($412);

A jump of 200Mhz equaltes into 300PR points but whats the real would performance on these chips there isnt as much as the set below.

When before the same 200Mhz jump for the 1400Mhz AXP(1600+) to the 1600Mhz(1900+) AXP was only for 300PR points different but you could tell a difference its wasnt made up.

Proof AMD PR is flawed if for every 66Mhz they gave it a 100 PR point it would be a linar equaltion but its not. it show the performance rating exceeding clock speed inclreade a chip performs worse clock for clock the highter it goes common sence right?

AMD doesnt want people to know that they are being ripped off with this forumula

PR = 1500 + (( MHz - 1333 ) * 1.5)

This is why the P4B still spanks the flagship AXP 66Mhz isnt much when your not getting any good boosts from Mhz beauce the chips is already maxed out.

Plus the reason the AXPs dont clocks a good as the P4A even though the die shrink becuase Intel used aluminum in the first P4's considering that they ran pretty cool for what they were made out of. The P4A were the first Intel chips with copper this adds another 15% better cooling so AMD had less to gain beuse they already switched on the .18 lines to copper.
