Thoughts on case and motherboard

I do light photo/video editing, gaming, and office applications.

Plan to use the Intel 3930 CPU, and I'm in US.

My current computer is 5 or 6 years old and I'm thinking about reusing my Silverstone Temjin TJ09. Use this or get a new case?

For the motherboard, looking at Asrock Extreme9 or Fatality Champion. Any feelings on those?

The 3930k is for heavy photo/video editing. For light editing, and gaming, I suggest you get the 3570k - or wait for Haswell.

Agree. The motherboards that the OP mentions are also extreme overkill.

If you really must have some performance then go for the 3770k and grab a p8 motherboard

The Temjin 09 is perfectly fine (it's an excellent case, if I know Silverstone at all). The only potential problem is a lack of front-panel USB 3.0--something easily remedied with a $30 5.25" drive like this one, which comes with a universal card reader and eSATA as well as USB 3.0 and 2.0.

Yet its design is modern enough that there's no reason to spend on a new case unless the user just wants to refresh the PC's appearance.

USB 3.0 isn't a big enough reason to change the case, and for most users it's not even important enough to spend on a front panel device.
