Thoughts On MSI

I might be a little biased. They may have very good motherboards. But if your motherboard dies, good luck to you. My motherboard just fried on me. Sent them 3 phone calls. Every call goes into voice mail. RMAd online. Got the RMA. Shipped out the motherboard, and walla, they said that the damage was "PHYSICAL" and that they wont repair or replace the motherboard. The damage was one of the capicators blew, and one of the lines to the capictor completely fried with smoke.
So I sent an email saying, you didnt mention anything about my problem, nor did you call me back to discuss this situation. So they sent me an email back saying the damage was physical by the user and will not replace.
So I got pissed, submitted a complaint to better business bureau. Looked at their current better business bureau report. And there we go. Better business bureau gives them a grade of F, which means that BBB does not trust the companys validity etc etc. They have 3 current complaints against the company that they have still unanswered.

So this is just a warning to all users who want to purchase a motherboard.

I was going to get an MSI Neo-platinum NFORCE 4 Ultra before I heard about all the problems they have. Seems to be a consistent thing with MSI.

Their products are all good quality, it's just that when something does go wrong, their support is terrible.

I've always thought MSI video cards were a solid product; I had an MSI GF3 that was a tank, but their motherboards are of dubious quality and IMO they don't support their lineup of mobos like other motherboard manufacturers do...

Even though I almost went with a Neo4 platinum, this type of thing assures me it was a good idea I went with the A8N-E instead.

Also, this type of thing is the reason I went with the A8N-E in the first place!

Things must have changed. A few years ago I had trouble with a MB I bought used on the fs forum. Sent them an email and they sent me an RMA # and replaced the board with a brand new one within a week. Didn't even have a sales slip or anything. I've been a supporter since, although I have had no further reason to use their support. My $.02.

Even without hearing that. I have never yet, nor ever will buy a msi product.

That seems like a microscopic number for a company the size of MSI. Not great for the 3 current complaints I'm sure.

I've heard a lot of MSI bashing. They're top notch products when they work, when they don't .... it's a whole other beast.

I just dumped my MSI neo4 for a Epox board, wow what a total differnt board/compnay, machine is rock solid, which is all i wanted. The msi board i had was impossible to get fixed, rma'd it twice....screw msi

I had the Neo2. It was OK, had some issues that bugged me and it took almost a month to get it RMA'ed. Have a few friends that arn't that fond of them either.

So not really a BAD board maker, just not on the top of my list.

Like i said, maybe their products are really good. My neo plat was amazing, i loved it until it fried. Then MSI completely screwed me over ;(.

I love my Neo2 Plat..but if there support sucks I do not care how good it is ...if there is an issue I expect help....otherwise my $$$ goes elsewhere.....

Chaintech took TWO MONTHS to get me a BIOS CHIP

but FWIW, I love my Neo4-F
