I am dire need of replacing my Goodyear F1 Supercar tires next season and don't want to really go with the same tire. I have staggered tires and the size is somewhat oddball so my options are limited without dropping $600 plus on each tire.

I require 285/40/18 rear and 255/45/18 front.

I know very little about tires so I thought I'd ask here. I found these Nitto tires that are within budget and look decent too. Is Nitto still a good brand?

Based on US pricing, you can get a set of 4 Eagle F1 Supercars in 285/40/18 for $600 total, $550 after rebate. Surely prices in Canada cannot be that much more?

The fronts seem to be similarly priced for the F1 Supercars:

If the price difference is really that large, you're close enough to NY that you can just drive down to the US to have them installed.

He probably doesn't want to go with the same tire because it's a crap tire.

i recall at autocross guy running NT01's on his turbo miata.

in that size, the RE50's are great tires. i ran them on my genesis coupe 2.0T. Very predictable. Got about 25,000 miles and a full season of autocross out of them

I didn't mean the F1's were $600 each. I meant my options are limited without either buying the F1's, or spending $600 per tire.

Those are really odd sizes, Tire Rack has a grand total of three tire options if you want matching front and rear.

I think I'd be looking for new wheels that let me access more common sizes or at least sizes in a tire I want (ie Pilot Super Sports).

That's what I did, I picked up a set of wheels that will let me do Super Sports next summer when I finally finish off this set of PS2s.

These rims aren't stock to my car. They come from a Shelby GT500. I also believe the super sports are near the $600 per tire mark.

If you have the budget, I really would suggest taking Viper's suggestion. going form F1 supercars to MPSSs will give you a whole new appreciation for your car.

I had a set of Nitto Neo Gen. 205/50R15.

ALL 4 tires had belt separation. I will not buy Nitto again.

I don't really care to do that because I am on schedule to get a Shelby in the next 4 years (or an S5) so dropping money on rims isn't really needed. But the tires are finished.

I called around for pricing in my area for the Nitto NT555's and nowhere in Ontario has them in stock. I have been advised to wait until closer to Spring when they start shipping summer tires here again.

I've had my Nitto NT555's on my WS6 for 2 years now, and they have been great. Making a little more power than you judging by your sig (336rwhp/350rwtq), but I'm running 275/40/R17 all around. They grip well enough, but can break loose even from a slow roll. I never really drive the car much in the rain, but when I have they seemed to work well enough. I've probably put 15k on them and they've held up well.

If they're a lot cheaper here in the US just ship them to me and pick them up. I'm only a couple hours away it looks like. Or we can even mount them here, I know of a few places...

I personally would go the pilot super sport route on 19" rims if you can stretch your budget. They will last longer and outperform the Nittos in pretty much every situation. If you won't be purchasing another vehicle for 4 years, you'll get a lot of use out of those rims and you can sell them when you are done and get some cash back. Also consider buying a used set off one of the many mustang forums / craigslist.

If you are on a budget, Nittos aren't bad tires (but they certainly aren't top of the line). The MPSS with a shorter sidewall in a 19" size would probably be a nice improvement for the car.

Sorry, missed that part about wanting to avoid the Eagle F1s initially.

Do you absolutely have to have the exact same size tires that came on the rims? Usually, there is a bit of leeway on what width tires will fit on a certain width rim.

You can get the Pilot Super Sports in 285/35/18 for $287 each, and in 245/45/18 for $229 each from Tire Rack.

That works out to $1032 total for a set of Pilot Super Sports. The width is very slightly different in front, but I don't see why it wouldn't fit on your rims given the only 10mm difference. The rears are the same width and have a ~4% difference in overall diameter.

FYI, the 285/35/18 PSS tires have a rim width range of 9.5-11" and the 245/45/18s have a rim width range of 7.5"-9".
