There's a demo out? I'll have to download it then...

I'm guessing more of the same shit as 2010. Nothing bad, but not great.

That play call mode sucked.

The kick off thingy sucks, last years worked fine.

Graphics looked cleaner.

Animations looked smoother.

I heard that President Obama the douche will be in the game, that is a big negative!

Really? You're gonna be THAT guy? Judge a football game based on the content of the football game, not which political figures they may throw in there... what a horrible fucking train of thought.

I'm hearing reports of a major 4th down bug...cpu AI seems to go for it on 4th and long when trailing no matter the score or field position.

I have to do it. I hate to be a... hater. But I have no choice. Fucking boycott Madden. The game is good, yes. But compared to what? There is no competition. There is no innovation. They PUT MOTHER FUCKING ADS IN THE GAME... AFTER... YOU BUY IT. Does it not infuriate anyone else that, before you hike the ball, there is an ad for an insurance company that pops up and covers up your RB. I don't care if its not uber intrusive. The ad wasn't there when I bought the game, it got patched it. Total fucking bullshit.

I dont care how good this game is. I refuse to support EA and Madden anymore.

Please stand with me, ATCG!

Same shit that people say every year. It won't matter... 1000 people get mad and "boycott" and they still sell millions of copies every single year.

Hate the new strategy pad for calling audibles and making adjustments. It's counter-intuitive to what was used last year and what is in NCAA Football. Plus when you are on defense against the CPU, you don't get to call audibles because the play has started by the time you navigate the strategy pad menu.

I will stand with you Cuda. I downloaded the demo and was shocked at how disappointed even I was. When you have such low expectations, it is amazing when EA comes in UNDER them.

Well besides that -- are they really putting Obama in the game? Is EA so low on features that they have to start throwing in appearances by random celebrities?

My first thoughts on Madden 11:

1. Damn, this is easy.
2. A new kick meter -- SERIOUSLY?!?!
3. The "strategy pad" -- SERIOUSLY?!?!

I'm glad that with all the features requested over the years and with everything wrong the this game, EA chose to focus on such pressing issues.

Look, I'm not an Obama fan but it's not that big a deal. They are finally adding Super Bowl celebrations to the game. Part of a typical SB celebration is the trophy presentation, parade, and oh yeah, a trip to the White House to meet the *current* President.

It's not like he's a playable character or randomly pops up. You're making a mountain out of a molehill.

The president is a douche and has no business in a game. But he's the rockstar President. Got to get his image out there.
Typical EA putting shit in a sports game that has no business being in a sports game.

No, I wasn't really commenting on Obama himself being in the game; I was more commenting on the fact that EA is resorting to adding celebrities like Obama when they could be doing more important things -- like making Online Dynasty better, for starters.

What next, adding the Rolling Stones or Justin Bieber for a "halftime celebration"?

well to be fair i always though it was stupid you never got any special ending for winning seasons in madden in the past.

personally i tihnk it is cool they added that in.

im glad blanghorst works for EA and helped develop the game though, didnt know we had an EA dev on these forums.

He has a point though man. EA focuses on gimmicky shit, rather than a core product.

I'll give you a great example. A lot of people, including myself, love to play franchise mode. We do a lot of simming. Trading players, drafting, building a team. The problem is, franchise mode SUCKS. This has been in the game for 10+ years and hasn't gotten ANY better.

I fired up Madden 10 last night just to play around. I did a fantasy draft. I drafted all offense. Best QB in the league, a couple top WR's. Great O-Line. My offense didn't perform much better than any other offense. Despite the fact that it was STACKED.

What I found funny though, Michael turner rushed for 2900 yards. I mean seriously? 2900? We can't even try to be realistic here? He had something like 8.9 yards per carry. It can't be THAT freaking hard to make a decent/realistic franchise mode, can it?

In past years, they've shown your team running around with the Lombardi, carrying coaches on shoulders, etc. You really think adding a couple of extra screenshots is a "cool feature"?

I'd never work for EA, although if you're a sports game fan, you should wish more fans like me would have greater input on the game.

Do you even play Madden? If so, how long? Where did I say anything that would warrant such a remark other than giving my opinion? An opinion, by the way, which is shared by tens of thousands of gamers (or more), I might add. By the way, where's the PC version they promised to bring back in 2010? Not that I care, but many do.

Don't take my word for it -- go to some of the sports video game sites and read thread after thread, year after year, of EA doing the exact same thing. As I said, I only wish fans like me had more input on the game.

That's the point. I don't care if EA adds screenshots of Obama or another random celebrity. What I am saying is -- why are they wasting their time doing this when Online Dynasty (and dynasties in general) needs work? What about all the other exploits that have existed for years?

The problem is that even though Madden sales have taken big hits in sales the past couple of year, people continue buying it in large numbers and EA has no incentive to make it better. I mean come on, look at Madden 11 -- the two most noticeable features are basic changes to the controls. Seriously?

And Gameflow -- what the heck? It might be an OK feature but come on! Has anyone ever really had a problem with Madden games lasting too long and saying to themselves "Damn, I can live with the exploits, ridiculous sim stats, and lack of new features, but having to spend 10 minutes extra on a Madden game is the last straw!!!!"

in all honesty i haven't give a crap about madden in years, it was so long ago that after winning a season they gave you a screenshot and thats it.

the game is stale, and with no competition, it won't get any better. there isn't much else you can do other than speak with your wallet, which i have done. i havent played a madden game seriously since probably psx days.

*yaaaaaaaaaaawn*

Another year, little progress. This is getting out of hand, tbh.

I won't get excited about another EA football game until they scrap the current engine and work on an all new one.

There were ads that started a while after Madden 10 was released to, it was patched in. When your team is walking to the line or other things where you don't really have control, the area of the GUI that has the "3rd and 10" display would have little billboards from McD's and stuff in them. It was damn annoying even though it was pretty small.

Damn annoying is an understatement. Absolutely fucking infuriating is more like it. It wasn't enough that I had bought this game every year for the last decade and really didn't complain much with the lack of innovation. I didn't complain much with the shady business to get rid of competition. But when you patch ads into a game, that aren't there to begin with and THEY INTERFERE with the gameplay. That's a big freaking deal.

It's only going to get worse. Money grabs, that's all it is. More advertising bucks. Bullshit DLC. You'll have to pay $5 to unlock all madden mode this year. If you want updated rosters online, there's another $2.99 DLC. etc etc...

I think its plainly obvious that EA isn't making this game to make a quality game anymore. They've got the market by the balls and they are extorting as much money as possible.

well in the end if users are willing to pay for it, why not charge for it?

that is the worst part, people are still willing to pay for all this crap every single year. madden is always, by a long shot, the biggest selling sports game every year.

sucks for gamers who care though.
