And You'll feel the same way about the PS4 after you play the two or three good launch titles.

Seriously, anyone at all surprised by this hasn't been around the industry long enough.

Whatever, Monster Hunter is actually very good on the WiiU.

At least it will have some original titles. I am probably older than you are and have been through a lot of console launches. Wii U's was/is especially awful. Besides Monster Hunter, and SMB, game library is pretty much barren. With PS4/next gen Xbox being a lot more powerful, look for even more barren 3rd party support in the future. This is coming from someone who bought a launch PS3 and kept it for 5-6 years (PS3 launch was awful too but Wii U is worse). If you are enjoying it more power to you.

How much did you sell it for?

If you already bough tit, it would make more sense to me to just keep it. You are likely going to buy another one in the future.

And yes, pretty much all consoles are like this at launch. Launch window games are almost always less-than-impressive. It takes a long time to build up a good library.

Bought it for $300 (32GB) and sold for $260 (includes fees, shipping). No, I am not planning to buy another one.

Isn't the Wii U 32GB $350? Also don't include to forget tax ($380?), plus whatever games you bought (if any).

I like the WiiU - its a neat and powerful system. We have several games for it and just picked up Assassins Creed 3 which looks amazing on the WiiU. The Sonic racing game looks great, but we just have the Demo. Nintendo Land is a great party game. Tank Tank Tank is fun but limited in play. Mario is Mario.

I'd buy it again, and I'm looking forward to the new titles coming out this year. The tablet controller is amazing and will make for great advances in gameplay options.

The WiiU is not that powerful, and will be no where near as powerful as the new systems this fall.

We shall see I guess. I know the launch wasn't special but I think it falls around the same launch the Xbox 360 had.

...and we all knew that for over a year before it released. So...why act like nobody knows this and it's some hot new info?

The guy above me said it was a powerful system. I guess anyone that doesn't have their head up nintendos ass can't post in this thread as long as you're around, right?

Yes the 360 launch sucked IMO. None of the following stand out at all to me.

Amped 3
Call of Duty 2
Condemned: Criminal Origins
FIFA 06: Road to FIFA World Cup
GUN
Kameo: Elements of Power
Madden NFL 06
NBA 2K6
NBA Live 06
Need for Speed: Most Wanted
NHL 2K6
Perfect Dark Zero
Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie
Project Gotham Racing 3
Quake 4
Ridge Racer 6
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 06
Tony Hawk's American Wasteland

PS3 Launch also sucked

Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII
Call of Duty 3
Genji: Days of the Blade
Madden NFL 07
Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire
NBA 2K7
NHL 2K7
Resistance: Fall of Man
Ridge Racer 7
Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07
Tony Hawk's Project 8
Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom

After about 6 months we started getting some better stuff though. Pretty much expected for me anymore. The Projected PS4 launch games do look to be pretty solid. Hope we hear about more stuff soon.

i thought all the bolded games were outstanding. PDZ was a huge letdown to me. king kong was pretty neat for a play through too. this was back when FPS weren't a dime a dozen too.

then burnout revenge and far cry came out like 4-5 months after launch and those games owned.

ps3 i agree though, nothing real enticing early on.

I'll admit it. I bought an xbox 360 at launch and only picked up PGR. I bought it knowing I'd get another Halo game. I bought a PS3 because it was the fastest loading, most supported, most compatible, and cheapest Blu-Ray Player out at the time and I also could play games on it. Ended up using it for games more.

If I could do it again, I'd have waited longer. I don't really regret my WiiU the same way because I do local multiplayer with it and have a good time. Without that, and without Monster Hunter 3 I would probably hate the thing.

Bought A WiiU at launch, and have enjoyed it, its now being the most played console in our house (not counting 3DS)..

We currently own:

Nintendo land
New Super Mario Bro. U
Sonic Allstar racing transformed
Tekken Tag tournament 2 (in tentionally held out for this version of the game)
Mass Effect 3 (my wife, Quadruple dipped, for the off screen screen controlls)
Wheel of Fortune
Jeopardy
Lego City Undercover
(the 30 cent nes downloads)

But this is comming from someone who found Pleny of titles to play on the Wii (been gaming since the mid 80's)

I bought a Wii U (ZombiU Deluxe set) as an early birthday present for myself last thursday. I have the following games for it, Nintendoland, ZombiU, Monster Hunter 3 Unlimited, New Super Mario Bros U, Nano Assault Neo, Toki Tori 2, and Punch Out.

I will say, I really really like the system. I knew what I was getting into and was fine with it. Basically a HD Nintendo console on par with current gen systems. The console has some neat features from being able able to control your tv (turn on/off, volume, channels, inputs, etc) to switching and playing games that support it on the Wii U pad. It is a bit slow, but Nintendo showed a video of the update that is coming this month that dramatically increases the load times of stuff. I wish the eShop was a bit better laid out but it gets the job done.

Miiverse is pretty damn brilliant for how simple it is. Basically its a forum/community for each game on the system and for other stuff. Get stuck in a game? Pull up Miiverse right there not leaving the game and can ask for help and if the game supports it take a screenshot of the exact spot and people help, I tried it out and had an answer in 2 minutes. It is also a pretty good place to get some info, though with no search function you either need to make your own post or see if one is up on the page as you scroll through other posts. I new what it was before getting it and I thought to myself, meh I can just go online if needed, but I will say, when you use it and see it in action you'll dig it.

Nintendoland, I didn't give two craps about this game looking at it from pics online, but since it came with the deluxe edition (download code) I figured I'd give it a shot since I did hear it was fun. It took like an hour or so, but it grew on me and I like it quite a bit now. It has like a dozen mini games, some of them are 1 player only, some are 2+ players only, most are 1+ players though. Each mini game is themed in some way from a big Nintendo franchise. Some of the mini games I didn't care for, but there are others that I really like (Pikmin and Yoshi are my favs). It is a well done game and really makes use of the Wii U features (gamepad) in a lot of unique ways. Also a cool extra since if you buy a deluxe system you get the digital deluxe promo they have where you get 10% back in eShop gift cards, well since Nintendoland is a digital game and when you activate it you get the credit of as if you were buying the game, so I received $6 worth of credit (you have to cash out the credit in intervals of $5) too boot.

ZombiU, this is probably the main game I wanted and funny enough I haven't had a good time to put more than a few hours into it. But I like it, it reminds of me Dark Souls in a way. You have 1 life basically, you die you come back as a new character but you can go kill your previous self that is now a zombie and get your gear, but if you die before that the gear is gone. The game is pretty cool and I like how it makes use of the gamepads screen using it as a scanning device and to mark items in the environment and for remote hacking is neat. You also make sure you are more cautious because when you deal with your inventory it is on the touchpad but the game isn't paused (on screen you see your character going through the backpack and can see around them a little). Cool game and am happy with it, though I am angry at myself for not getting more play time in on it so far.

Monster Hunter 3 Unlimited, it's Monster Hunter, you either like it or you don't and the touchpad/additional screen doesn't make much of a difference, though it is nice to customize it how you want with what info is displayed and where. I like the series a lot and this was a no brainer for me.

New Super Mario Bros U, haven't gotten to play it yet, just received it today, will fire it up soon but it does look great from the screenshots I've seen on the Miiverse.

Nano Assault Neo. eShop game that looked neat to me and is a bit different than your normal twin stick shooter. You fly around on a cell and fight off virus/bacteria till it is cleansed and move on to the next stage, get some upgrades and things you can purchase to increase your score. For $10(was actually able to get it for $5 since I had that $5 credit from Nintendoland ) I am really happy with this game and can recommend it if you dig those types of games.

Toki Tori 2. Purchased last night, another eShop game. I am a big big fan of the first Toki Tori (aced all the levels on Steam) and wanted to support the developer. They haven't said when the Steam version comes out but I will double dip on this game to support them and because it is damn good. A very different type of puzzle game. A lot of people are calling it a Metroidvania game and I can agree with that. No combat, just puzzles and more puzzles. A lot of content and tons of charm, no brainer on this one.

Punch Out, eShop game and it is part of some special they are doing with a new virtual console game each month for $0.30. Can't go wrong with that price, we all know Punch Out, but the nice thing about this is Nintendo is doing a nice job of porting these old games over to the Wii U. They are very crisp and clean and can be played off screen on the gamepad as well. I think Super Metriod is the next game in May and I can't wait for it (even though I do have the Super Metroid cart for my SNES lol).

I tried out the Wii U Pro controller (came as part of the ZombiU bundle) and is a fine controller. Comfortable, buttons/sticks laid out well, and from what I've heard battery life is insane.

Overall, I am very happy with my Wii U purchase. I knew what I was getting into for the most part and those expectations were exceeded in all ways. I can not wait till the system gets a Zelda and Metroid (two of my fav gaming franchises). I can see the lack of games currently being off putting and don't blame anyone for not jumping on the system yet. But the way I see it for myself, I have for gaming a PC and PS3 (as well as lots of older systems) so I have plenty of gaming to fill my plate anyways so getting fewer games currently on the Wii U isn't a negative for me (but it is a negative for a lot of others and I understand that).

So far the only native U game I've seen that I want is the Deus Ex remake, but then I'm not a Mario player.

I might pick one up for the Wii JRPGs and misc. that I missed by not having the original Wii though. Just like I might get a PS Vita someday for a few PSP titles.

Worse system I have ever purchased. My kid does not even like it. I checked the logs and it been played all of 36 hours since launch day. 20 of those were attempts at playing netflix. Collecting dust waiting for a decent game to come out. I never imagined it would be so bad. The only thing good I can say is Mario looks better in HD. I got 400$+ into playing super Mario. Smh

You didn't do any research? You knew the games available and everything.

Seriously complaining about games when you knew the release dates for new games were a long way off is pretty funny.

I wish more gamers were like kaotik above. Know what you are buying into and make a decision based on that. Don't expect games to magically appear, look at what is available and what is coming. Dive into the downloadable titles and find stuff to play. If there is nothing to hold your interest there then don't buy it. Information about every game and rumored game is available everywhere. Use that info as a consumer to make sound choices for yourself.

Scribblenauts may also be good for a kid. Also trine, depending on how old he is.

I thought it would be worthwhile to note that I would assume that you're talking about HDMI-CEC support. It's known by many other names depending on the manufacturer such as HDMI Control, SimpLink, etc. What I find interesting about this is that while Microsoft's goal seems to be to position themselves at the center of the living room, their console is the only current console (i.e. Wii U not Wii) that does not have HDMI-CEC support. I use HDMI-CEC with my PS3; so, when I turn my PS3 on, it will automatically turn my TV and receiver on, and it will change the receiver to the PS3's input.

The Wii U doesn't need to be on to control the TV with the gamepad. When You hit the TV button the controller it has a screen that comes up just for controlling the TV, the console isn't on at all. Basically the gamepad acts like universal remote, you have to select which brand your TV is when you set it up initially.

Oh, interesting. Does it also have HDMI-CEC support and do things like I mentioned? I kind of wish the 360 had support for it too since my upstairs TV+AVR combo isn't as well-established as the downstairs combo. Downstairs, the TV will turn on the AVR when it turns on, but that isn't the case upstairs. I have to fuddle around with all the remotes (except with the PS3)! :|

I like mine. Needs more good games, but they will come. The independent titles are nice too. I have Nintendo Land (like it, fun with the wife), New Super Mario Bros (love it), Need for Speed Most Wanted Wii U (love it), and Scribblenauts Unlimited (good game, but don't pay full price)

I didn't see any options for anything like that. I never used the option either for my PS3 since it was a launch PS3 and it didn't support it.

It was for my 12 year olds Xmas. He thought he wanted it at the time, sure you know how that goes. I played a few games that I had on ps3 just compare. The interface is clunky and insanely slow. The touch screen is not very responsive. Games are poor. To me the whole screen is a gimmick and odd to game with. If you like it great. IMO it cannot even compete with the 360 or ps3. If it had come out 3-4 years ago it might have a chance. I think the general reception has been a flop. Right after Xmas target was offering a free game with the black console. Last week they were 199$ on clearance. Never have I seen a retail store drop a new system off MSRP so quick. Usually price drops are because the manufacturer has a price reduction.

I understand that. I thought you bought it for you and figured he'd play it too. Kids are like that. Gotta have it then it sits. A good friend of mine bought his son a new skateboard, really super nice one all decked out. Spent almost $200 or something. After a week it was put in the shed somewhere.

The screen is not capacitive like your phone. You have to actually press down a bit with some pressure to get it to register. I think it competes with the 360 and PS3 just fine in terms of hardware, it just needs a little touch up on the interface and online which is coming, and some software to use.
