Question Thoughts on this budget build

I've been able to stretch my current rig (built in 2010) with disk, gpu and ram upgrade over the years. I like having the ability to upgrade when prices drop due to new models.
Mostly used for remote work and some basic gaming.
Starting to plan for the next one, but didn't know it was such a challenge with part scarcity and prices nowadays.

current:
i5 750
GIGABYTE GA-P55A-UD3 P55 R

Draft build:

Still deciding which RAM brand to get, but not sure there is much difference.
GPU prices are crazy. I read in a previous thread finding a used R570 for around $100 might be good way to go. Just need some ideas where they are in stock.

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance

Heya,

If your goal is to get the most over time, maybe don't go with a B450 older chipset. Go for a X570 chipset instead to have the most options over time and overall a better board. Get one with good thermal handling on all the components for the long term in case you get a CPU in there that will need/want more.

The memory is fine, either set. 3600Mhz is overclock, so just know that. These CPUs/boards support 3200Mhz at the top end officially. But shooting for 3200~3600Mhz with CL16 latency is a good thing. Crucial or GSkill is fine.

Maybe look at the Phanteks Eclipse P400A case for this cost.

Very best,

Interesting suggestion. I have not seen that Phantek model. Seriously considering it as reviews sound pretty good. I can save some money on the case and put it in the mobo.
Any recommendations on good value X570 mobo's in the less than $150 ballpark? Don't really need wifi.
I see Asus Prime X570-P with some decent reviews.

Heya,

Yup, take a look at the MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus, look at the ASUS TUF Gaming X570-Plus, Gigabyte X570 Gaming X or the Gigabyte X570 Aorus Elite.

You may not need x570. The 450 chipset will run pretty much most things. It's just a question of if you want your motherboard to be able to handle everything the 5000 series eventually offers, if you go that route, over the next few years with the same motherboard, like what you've done the past 10 years with your current setup. Since the prices are not radically difference ($120~200) for a motherboard for a 5~10 year life span based on what you're wanting to do, maybe get the least crippled one and go for the best one you can. The B550 is another option, but its crippled and offers no real benefit to the X570 alternative since the prices never were low and are nearly the same cost as the higher tier X570 boards basically which is silly but the market is silly right now. So for cost, I don't see a reason to go with anything less than an X570 if you plan on using AM4 CPUs buying new. Again, just thinking, what if you eventually put the top shelf 5000 series CPU on this board, or close, like a 5900x one day or something, compared to using a much lower tier CPU until then. If that's in the cards, you'll want the better board with better VRMs, cooling, etc.

If you want to make this ultra-budget, then sure, get a lower tier motherboard with an older chipset, like 450B, but look at something closer to $60~70 if you want to save money and still get a working board. But if you're looking at a $120 450B based motherboard, you might as well spend more and get X570. That's my only point I guess.

Very best,
