You better look at what it can do. Currently there isn't a graphics card on the market that can match that of the xbox.
Not to mention that the total price of the xbox is less than the highest end pc graphics card.

As far as resolution goes- 1080i isn't so bad. Even 480p on an hdtv is amazing.
I haven't seen a computer graphics card be able to match the clarity of the xbox on a tv.

isn't it always this way though? It never changes... when the PS2 came out all the PS2 fanboys were screaming about how it murdered a PC on graphics... well in the next 6 months the PC creamed the PS2. Anyway, most of us (at least me) dont buy the xbox because it has the best graphics in the world, hell I know a PC will top it soon (plus I also love PC gaming and I think I have a pretty darn good PC for gaming ) but we buy it for the games. If you dont like the games, fine... its your opinion... but to dog the xbox just because of microsoft is silly (i swear I just said that...).

I dare ask... why didn't we dog the PS and PS2... hell Sony makes it... they must know nothing about gaming. And would you dog a computer and/or graphics card if Nintendo made one available for the PC? How hipocritical this world can get...

Upcoming ATI R300 will be based on ArtX design. Just like upcoming GeForce 4 will be based on xGPU, with dual vertex shader capability and higher clock.

I guessyou didn't see the research that a team did on whether or not consoles are going to be on-line any time soon. And there result and everyone elses result? Consoles will not penetrate the on-line world for another 5-6 years!! That's if it's even accepted!!


Now I know that everyone here thinks they know sh*t about consoles, but I would rather listen to PROFESSIONALS than people spotting away on a tec forum. So expect a pretty long wait if you plan on playing the Xbox or any console on-line!!!

For the people claiming that XBox is a "low-end computer"...

First, some clarification. The XBox's specs (733MHz PIII hybrid, 10GB 5200 RPM HD, etc.) are obviously only mediocre compared to what can be had on the computer market today (1.6GHz AXP, 100GB 7200 RPM HD, etc.). However, anyone thinking this way is missing the ENTIRE point of XBox.

If you don't remember anything else, remember this, XBOX IS FOR GAMES! MS didn't need to put in the largest and fastest HD, the fastest CPU, etc., simply because that wouldn't improve gameplay significantly enough to outweigh the cost/heat emission penalty. That's why MS choose a 733MHz PIII hybrid and a 5400 RPM 10gb HD. A little common sense.

Most importantly, the XBox GPU is, in fact, BETTER THAN ANY (that is, ANY) GPU you could find on the market today. Currently, I think it's safe to say the GeF3 Ti500 is the fastest video card on the market. The XBox's GPU is simply superior. And here's one good reason, Nvidia's next generation video card release (February?) will be based off of the XBox GPU. That's right people, the GeForce4 technology, or NV25.

Some reality: The XBox GPU is superior to the GeF3 Ti500. Off the top of my head, it's superior because it has dual vertex shaders among other GeF4 technology features.

So, basically speaking, as of today, you couldn't get a better gaming experience with ANY other PC that you could build compared to XBox.

The Xbox might be a "low end" computer in terms of "specs", like that really matters, it still blows a PC away on games (graphically).

1st place) PS2
2nd place) GC
3rd place) Xbox

They always knew that the Xbox was going to do well at launch, but the real test will be in 4-5 years. Can the Xbox penetrate 50-65 million American homes?? I say that it will not be done!!!The PS2's dominance is much to powerful at the moment. And where are the exclusive titles for the Xbox? Besides Halo (which is Awesome) I just don't see it!! MGS2, GTA3?? Didn't people just play these titles on there PS2's??? By the time the Xbox puts out these titles, they will be old news!!! These titles will be old by then!!!

And let's not even get started on the Japanese market. It's been proven time and time again, that if you don't win over the Japanese market your console will FAIL!! There is no if's, and's or but's about it. And the Japanese market hates Microsoft!!!

Glad I didn't buy an Xbox!

Yea, there are people that have there Xbox's hooked up on-line. I'm not going to deny that, but to fully play on-line Microsoft is going to charge you 10-15 dollars a month to use there services!! In my opinion, most people aren't going to pay that amount.

You want proof: look at the dreamcast! There on-line features were a failure. Not to many people took advantage of there on-line play. That simple!!!

Also lets talk broadband!! It's nice that Microsoft thought of people with high speed access, but in reality how many people have access to a high speed connection. Not many. I believe that only about 10-12% Americans have access to a high speed connection. It's going to increase, but right now it's only a pipe dream!! Look up the facts!!!

Also, lets get real. How many people actually have a 3,000 dollar plus HDTV setup? I would figure not many. Most people are looking at there Tv's in 640x800 (or whatever).


-Most people here are the exception. Most people here put there time, effort and finances into electronics. We would be the first to have the HDTV's, high speed acces and what not... In addition, most "average consumers" do not care about on line play.

Most consoles will last on an average of 4-5 years!! PS1 is a good example. What year was it first introduced?? Hmmm..... Can't hear you? Yea, 94-95!! What year is this? 2001!! Can I still buy a PS1? You bet!! What was the biggest selling console last christmas (due to PS2 shortages)? Hmm... Can you say the PS1!!!

That was even when the dreamcast was selling pretty well last year. And the PS1 still beat the dreamcast in sales!!!

If the Xbox doesn't have the Japanese support when the system debut's next year in Japan then the system might not last!! Like i stated previously, no console has survived when they can't penetrate the Japanese market.

I gave my point of view of the two consoles i have played (ps2 and xbawx). I stated in an earlier post that i havent played the GC except in toys r us (one of the places i had to look to find the xbawx). So take your "Ummm yea...." and ......

The GameCube is the better system for many reasons. The most important one is that Nintendo knows what gamers want in a console, A GAMING SYSTEM AND NOTHING MORE. Microsoft tried to throw too many things into the XBOX and i'll be surprised if half of them get used. Nintendo built a pure GAMING machine and nothing more. Instead of making everything bigger and louder, things got a heck of a lot smaller, the games are so damn TINY. I like the small controller too, it's not big and bulky and everything is placed well. The games on the cube are pretty good, but the best have yet to come. Luigi's Mansion is decent, Rogue Squadron is pretty good, Super SMash Bros. is hands down the best multiplayer game on the cube. Overall nintendo has the winner here. Not to mention it's $100 cheaper than the XBOX.

Nintendo has you fooled too. First of all, 199 is not accurate. More like 229, you have to get a memory card. I love that my Xbox needs nothing more than a game when I purchase it... To bad the game cube gives you warnings all the time when a memory card is not present... Gotta love that.

With the Xbox you not only get a more powerfull console and twice as many games, you also get a DVD player (with a 29.99 purchase of the controller) which will play progressive scan soon. The controller complaints are pure opinion. The power of the Xbox is not, that is fact, it has more power readily available.

Some things are opinion such as "Good" games and "Big" blocky controllers and even the console "size". That is all opinion and means nothing. Lets get down to the facts Xbox=most powerfull console. That however is not an opinion but the absolute truth at this point in time.


You can keep complaining about the games, keep making fun of the controllers and keep talking console size all you want. But your wasting your time.



Look at this from my point of view. I wanted a DVD player and a Game system. Xbox seemed to have met that requirement very well.

While the PS2 can meet that requirement but it does not have HDTV support. Xbox is the clear winner for me.

Just buy all the consoles: DC, PS2, XBOX, GC. The way peeps seem to upgrade their video cards (every 6 months) demonstrates that cost is certainly not a problem.
