That is SOOOOO close to my build, same motherboard, CPU, I am pretty sure the memory is functionally the same (No RGB for me), and AIO 360 cooler, a very similar case, and possibly the video card. EXCEPT I have TWO 1080TI FTW3 cards that will be here Friday,
Great minds think alike. I spent approximately two spread out but sleepless nights locking in my mobo choice.
I changed my choice from an non-mentioned mobo to the taichi. The feature-set was better. Strangely the price was also better and there's something about their aesthetic sensibility that's fitting with the timeline ahead.

Also it supports 3600 ram. The only other one I saw that supported that was the $550 zenith

I just looked again, the MSI one, and the other ASRock also support 3600.

Actually, both Asrock boards and Giga support 3600 on their QVL. The MSI and Asus Zenith are reported to support it, but not officially listed on the QVL. The Asus prime boards only support 3200.

What do you mean by that?

MSI is the only motherboard with 3 slots for an nvme drive actually on the motherboard. The Asus zenith board uses a pciexpress card and one of the pciexpress slots for more nvme drive slots.

Edit: seems the gigabyte auros board has 3 m.2 slots and the Asus zenith uses a dimm2 slot for m.2 drives

OK, I have tracking numbers for the 1950X and the Taichi, but only the 1950X has a delivery date at the moment, Monday.... I hope the Taichi can also make it the same day.

All the other parts are here or will be by Friday (the 1080TI's) and are installed if they don't require the motherboard.

As for all the M.2 drives that people are wanting, I found that in heavy use (DC) they heat up a LOT(to the point of shutting down or erroring, over 70c) and requires a heat sink. I use the NVME drive for boot and software, and everything else is a regular SSD (2.5 inch size) drive, or for mass storage, a regular 3.5 inch SATA.

Here is a picture of my solution. An old heatsink from an old motherboard (in this case an old P5A) cut down to size. I have thermal tape between them and use zip ties to hold them together. This will fit nicely in the first nvme slot on the Taichi between PCIE slots 2 and 3, and I will have 2 1080TI's in slots 1 and 3. It keeps the drive under 50c, and it never fails at that temp.

I used this exact solution on my 1800x and my 1700x, it works great !! at 70c I had all sorts of problems before I did this.

You guys are lucky. My gear isn't slated to ship until the 11th and there is no way it will ship on the 11th. It usually takes them 2-3 days to ship stuff they have in stock. I did order the case and H115i separately though. So I will probably get those soon but without everything else...it's just a big tease.

There was an aftermarket heatsink that I saw as well for NVME drives. It was rated pretty well, and it's not as bulky IMO. I'll see if I can dig it up. My stuff doesn't get too hot, but then again I don't do DC anymore.

I emailed Noctua regarding their NH-U14S TR4-SP3, and when it would be available. They said it will be available on Saturday on their eBay store page. http://stores.ebay.com/noctuadesignedinaustria
What do you mean by this !?!?!?! They said it wouldn't be available until the end of the month. Now you're stating they confirmed Saturday? If true :

My shipment comes in Weds !!!! Shipment of Proc and mobo confirmed !! I've literally got shipments coming in from now until then... Imagine if I get a Noctua just in time????

I'm waiting to see how the NVME covers on the MSI Carbon X399 board work before ordering those EKWB nvme heatsinks. I don't see mine nvme drives getting hot as the way my GPU will sit in this Thermaltake P3 case means no heat will be thrown at the nvme drives from the GPU.

Very good catch on the NVME drives. I was troubled too by their location because a good number of AIB vidya aren't blowers and I recall that they dump heat out of the top and bottom which can be quite hot. Also, I've never owned an NVMe drive. Thus, I was unaware that they get extremely hot by themselves .. this is news to me.

The reason mine look so big, is that I have them, and they are FREE. I am sure the ones I see I could get, but I am a cheapskate. You say "you spend $1000 on a cpu, but you won't spend $15 on a nvme hsf ?"

Yes, because I already have it.

This timeline just gets better and better. Given that they said it would be on their ebay store by Saturday I hope they ensured to get samples to reviewers in time for the launch tomorrow.. Given when my mobo/proc are coming in, I can hopefully make a fully informed decision on Saturday/Sunday about the cooling options. Yes lads, Official launch is Tomorrow !!! Tomorrow in less than 24hours we get all the juicy details

It was news to me.... Until they started to overheat. Then I figured it out. Better to be safe then sorry. If I have wasted anybody's time or money on the issue, I apologize.

No. not at all. You've literally changed what vidya I am considering for the build and also informed me to look into a nice heatsink for my little gum stick drive.

My 950 Pro nvme drive throttled in my small ITX case I had before moving to this Fractal Define C. And thats with the m.2 slot on the back of the motherboard. Problem with it being on the back of the motherboard in an ITX case is no airflow. Bare in mind it really only throttled during large file transfers and benchmarking. Didn't throttle on day to day usage.

You just confirmed what I said, they DO get hot. And if you want to depend on it always, get an HSF for it.
