Yes, I am number 34 in the world for F@H to cure cancer, which I have right now. Going in for chemo next Tuesday.
Ohhhh Mark, I'm sorry to hear that. If I heard that before in the DC forum, I guess I wasn't paying attention. Best wishes for remission or a cure!

Edit: Not sorry that you're 34th in the World at F@H Cancer (Cure Project), only sorry that you have it.

I wish you the best and hope you will beat it.

K then it's up to speedfan programmer to add support for this motherboard. I would still like to know if speedfan works with the ASRock taichi, anybody?

Hey do you know guys if you can install ESXI on a threadripper ?

Edit: Ok found an answer here. It will not work with an Asrock Taichi but it will with the Asus Prime X399. However this motherboards does not seem to be appreciated that much.

https://communities.vmware.com/thread/570854

I was able to install ESXi on my Zenith. For the most part, GPU passthrough worked fine on it, the only issue I found was that restarting the VM would break passthrough. Had to do a full reboot of the host machine any time I restarted the VM to fix.

I've just read that the NPT bug got fixed for KVM though, so I'm going to give that go soon, as I rather use that instead for virtualization.

Also I installed my Enermax 360 today. Replaced the noctua NH-U14S. So far I'm impressed, it's a good bit quieter and at stock, runs ~53C in Prime95 which is about 10 C cooler than what the Nocuta was running at. Will be adding a second Vega 64 soon.

I wish there was a button for "like" that you're helping to find a cure and at the same time "sorry to hear that".

Stay strong.

Mark, very sorry to hear about your condition and hoping for the very best outcome for you!

I have been lurking on this thread for a few weeks and want to thank you especially along with all the other helpful contributors as I have leaned on your generously shared experiences to pick components (now ordered) for my TR system. It's been five years since I built my last workstation (i7-3770) and I am amazed at how much change has occurred.

So I picked up a second samsung nvme 512gb drive for nvme raid 0.
I got Windows installed on the raid array. But windows keeps hanging. I saw others with the same issue. Just wondering if anyone else has tried installing windows on the nvme raid yet?

Here are the directions once you have the bios 801 installed on the asus zenith board.

1. At the time of writing, you need bios version 0801.
2. Know that just as windows needs to be rebooted after changing certain settings, so does your BIOS.
3. In the boot tab:
Launch CSM: Enabled
Boot Device Control: UEFI Only
Boot from Network Devices: UEFI Driver First*
Boot from Storage Devices: UEFI Driver First*
Boot from PCI-E Expansion Devices: UEFI Driver First*

4. Reboot
5. In the advanced tab do NOT set SATA to RAID. Leave it ACHI
6. In the advanced tab find the AMD PBS setting and change it to RAID
7. Reboot
8. In the advanced tab you should see the RAIDXpert Raid Configuration option now. I can't give you exact steps for this, but you may need to delete any arrays, and maybe initialize physical disks before you can create the array. Once you have created your array, move to the next step.
9. Reboot
10. Boot from windows USB and begin installation.
11. On the installation screen where you choose your boot drive, you won't see the array yet. Click on Load Drivers and navigate to your drivers USB. You will have to load 3 drivers individually one after the other. rcbottom.inf, rcraid.inf, and rcnfg.inf (spelling?)
12. Now you should see the raid array. Install windows on the array.
13. Once you have windows up and running, I would be cautious about installing any other chipset or raid drivers if you don't have to, until such time as ASUS formally releases and certifies these all work together.

With all this spare CPU could it be simpler just to create a software raid ?

It would not be bootable.

I am curious what the use case is for a RAID 0 boot drive? I would have thought that in most cases the performance of a single NVME drive would have been sufficient while the risk of a RAID 0 failure and time cost of rebuilding the boot drive would have outweighed any savings from the RAID 0 performance.

I agree, and I have no idea.

Chemo again today at twice the strength. Not feeling great, but maybe it will work.

And thanks for asking.

Hang in there. In addition to your F@H efforts lots of others are, and have been, working for years on cancer treatments/cures (including my wife).

Hi, just wondering what your thoughts are about your TR build in the Define S case?

Thank you!
I really like that I can put a 360 rad on top or in front.Since mine is setup in push/pull, I went with the front. But then I had to leave the front panel off, since it impeded the airflow too much. Thats OK though.

Any pointers to learn more about those F@H projects (or others). I haven't kept up since before SETI went to BOINC.

Just google "folding at home" and the stanford site has all sorts of information. Its all about curing cancer. The 2 BOINC projects that mostly do cancer research are rosetta@home and WCG,

Threadripper CPU prices are pretty nice right now.

1900X is all the way down to $399.

If only RAM and GPUs weren’t so god awful.
