for only $99.95. Their shipping cost is $12.89, making it $112.84 shipped! I had previously been eyeing the one at newegg.com, for $114 shipped, but the one at econopc costs less, and isn't sold out!

Unfortunately, econopc only has a 3.9/7.0 rating.

TCWO has better ratings and is $114 shipped also with a 30 day. For another 10 you get a fan and a one year on everything. Wouldn't want to use the fan for this speed though. Newegg is on 7 days for CPU.

How about this chip + KK266 + 1.5gb of that cheap 512mb RAM? NeutronUSA.com has the 512mb modules for $47-$42 (depending on their guarentees and stuff, hard to tell if the 512mb modules in that price range are all the same w/ different selling agreements or slightly different).

I'm looking at getting the most ram per buck. Not DDR, etc.

Opinions (and no, I'm not worried enough to go buy the RAM from crucial.com)?

BTW: newegg.com price is $114 shipped fedex.

I ordered a retail 1.2 gig chip from new egg last week. It was AXIA but the fan that it came with was defective and did not work. I almost fried my chip. lucky for me I cought the fan defect b4 it overheated. Anyone know if there is a way to get the fan replaced with out sending back the entire CPU?

He He....your goin to get a laugh out of this.....My fan didn't work....almost fried my chip....Boxed w/stock fan....WHEWWW caught it before it was to late....Called AMD next morning....Guy says...Push real hard on the middle of the fan til it clicks....I kinda laughed....Thought he was pullin my leg....went home after work...started grinnin....pushed real hard on fan...CRACK it went....haven't had a problem since....Am running everything stock right now....but...love my system..Epox with ddr...Hope this helps someone.

Most of the time it's worth it to spend a few dollars more to get the boxed version with the 3 year warranty. I've had to make use of the warranty on AMD processors about 4 times in the past year for customers systems.
