Thunderbolt Update - Do Not Install

It happened on my mid iMac 2011. After the thunderbolt update, it said the system could not apply update and it went into kernel panic mode. You'll have to enter Lion Recovery to reinstall Lion. Luckily, I have a time machine and just reloaded over night.

As of this morning, the update was still listed.

Edit - The update adds Thunderbolt to Ethernet functionality.

Ouch! That bites, and I will watch out for, and avoid, this update. It would be nice if they'd only make updates like this visible to users with hardware that supports them - no point in bricking your machine (even temporarily) to install support for hardware you don't have and can't add.

It's explicitly labeled Thunderbolt and only appears on Thunderbolt'ed Macs. My 2009 MBP didn't have the update.

You're good to go if you dont have thunderbolt.

How ironic, I made the same discovery last night, did the update and it bricked my iMac as well. I was getting ready to reinstall anyway so didn't really care but that's not good for an official Mac update.

I guess I was lucky. The update did not brick my mid 2011 iMac

Update worked on my mid 2011 iMac. Updated last night, computer thunderbolt both still work.
