Yay, yet another video thread.

I bet you're wrong, though, Stein is a pretty smart cookie. Or are you just saying he's wrong because you disagree with him?

I disagree with him because he IS wrong. Of this, there is no doubt.

Well, like I said "Yay, yet another video thread" so I have no idea what the video is about.

I thought it was a comedy when I first heard about it. Then I see that Stein is serious, and he now has as much credibility as Ann Coulter.

it's a huge sciency conspiracy amirite?

If you were on Win Ben Stein's Money and were asked the question "Was Darwin a complete quack?" and you said "no", you would lose.

I think Stein's movie disproves that he's a smart cookie (either that, or he's a Charlatan trying to make bank on the ignorant, in which he's smart in a perverse way).

Ben Stein IS very intelligent, and it's my contention that the smarter you become the more likely you will begin to see (or "want" to see) a cosmic influence on life. Obviously there are exceptions, many of them, but the minds of those who are vastly wise are complex to the point that they need a tie that binds, a figurative road map for life to originate from and follow that centers around an all-powerful, all-knowing being who set things up for us. It doesn't make them stupid to believe so and it's not necessarily a cop-out either, some people just can't accept the fact that life finds a way given enough time and the right conditions.

This argument makes no sense though. Why is it that you have to believe in god and creationism OR evolution. So god created the universe, he created man - WTF does that have to do with evolution because he obviously created evolution too.

That doesn't make Intelligent Design a valid scientific theory, though

That argument is nonsensical. You're suggesting that a cosmic influence MUST be the correct answer, and therefore smart people stumble upon it. You started with a flawed assumption; evolution and a grand cosmic force can't coexist, when a smart person realizes that they can. The smart person takes all of the evidence supporting evolution and combines that with whatever religious beliefs they may have (or lack of religious beliefs, whichever). Ben Stein has just proven that he is not a very smart person because he is ignoring decades of good research and hard evidence supporting revolution.

The smartest people aren't specialists in EVERY field. That's another problem with your argument; many of the smartest people are not biologists, and therefore have little insight into biology.

It's kind of getting away from evolution and all that, I'm just pointing out that very smart people do still turn to religion and God to explain everything, even though you would think they'd be the ones smart enough NOT to. I could be way off base here but thats the gist I got from reading various articles and stories from great minds.

Very interesting video. Basically points out how Ben Stein is a fool.

There is a rather large difference between intelligent design and creationism.

Therefore your title kinda makes you a fool as well.

(Hint: I'm an agnostic, so don't bark up the wrong tree)

It's not that large. Both are flawed theories with little scientific grounding (although ID does have slightly more science behind it) that are mostly faith-based, creationism being more faith-based.

I nearly fell out of my chair when I saw the ad for that movie. I can't believe it! Ben Stein is supposed to be intelligent.
