Ti4200 OC'ing problems.

Recently got a Ti4200. Took off the HSF, put on a layer of AS5 (refrigerated). Put it in, OC'ed to 370/650 with no problems. Ran ATITool for 5 minutes, no artifacts, 2 bechies of 3dmark2001SE, scored ~12k, no problems, no artifacts. So I back off to 300/600 to try for a 24/7 OC. About 45 minutes into just surfing and watching videos, I get white line artifacts streaking across the monitor? If I play a simple engined counterstrike 1.6 for an hour or two, it'll freeze, and I'll have to do a hard reboot. (BTW, stock runs fine so far, but won't get 100FPS @ 4xAA/8xAF, without this, CS looks like crap, more than usual.)

Could this be the Ti4200 overheating? It'll just freeze, but I can still hear sound, and sometimes after a time, I'll be able to hit back to desktop. I would REALLY like to hit a 24/7 OC of 300/600 if not higher, because that is what I need to be able to run CS1.6 @ 4xAA/8xAF at 100FPS constant (which really is needed for this kind of game at this kind of level).

Any help is appreciated, thanks! (Could it put bad HSF contact? Because it seems tight to me, although the screw spring is ever so slightly crooked).

your brain cant process 100fps.... and if you are really worried about good speeds you need to upgrade... get a 6600GT... great card and its fairly cheap. when i had my old GF4Ti i only got about 10k outta it in 3dmark01. if you got the cash to throw around get a Sapphire Radeaon x800 GTO2 not the GTO but the GTO2.... i just got one and its AMAZING....

I know my brain can't process '100 FPS' as individual frames, but when it drops, it'll drop to low 50's, and whether you believe me or not, I can DEFINITELY tell a difference in the smoothness of the game.

I'm not worried about good speeds, this is my CS1.6 computer, I had a 6600GT but returned it because it was overkill. I have a 6800GS and x800GTO @ x850xtPE + in my main computers, but I don't really use those that much anymore. I just hang on this.

Any other help?
Ti4200's don't have temp probes either, so I won't be able to tell. Too bad the image only goes to quality and not high quality....

And what would the best drivers be? Could this be a driver problem? I'm using xG 77.62 right now. I heard the newer ones don't give better IQ to GF4 and GF5 series, and they take away performance anyway. Would 44.03's be better for a game as old as 1.6?

Edit: Any suggestions to figure out the OC problem...? !

your brain cant process 100fps

Lets ignore this stupid part and move on..

I would guess that you gpu vcore is too low causing instability. What about using nibtor (i think its called) and nvflash to up your core voltage a litle and see if that regains your stability.

What about memory, should I be able to overclock just that and not have instability? If it is the gpu that is the problem.

Also I tried 44.03, and didn't notice any instant instability but there's no digital gamma or digital vibrance...can't live without those. = no color profiles.

I'll try to up my volt by .1 when I wake up.

Can I just up my AGP voltage from 1.5 to 1.6V ?

Yeah, it seems fine on stock, and even at 250/600, so maybe it is the core Voltage.

There's no way I can find out if it's overheating? It usually takes about an hour for it to start throttling / freezing.

And core won't help as much as memory when it comes to texture sizes and AA/AF/vsync, right?

Just got a throttle / freeze @ 250/600..
I see reviewers push this easily to 350/650, and that's with stcok thermal paste and aluminum ramsinks. I've got all copper HSF/ramsinks. Weird, maybe just a bad overclocker?

.

I tried playing with 4xAA and 8xAF, and omg...No thanks. And I have to stick to 800x600 or 10x7 resolution. No others.

ATiTOOL? make sure you have the right drivers. Driver cleaner?

Yes, I'm using 77.62 XG modified drivers.

ATITOOL to scan for artifacts....
I did use driver cleaner.

first, 50 frames is still super smooth. second, quit whining and either buy a better cooler or get a better card. third, lower the res or play at 2xaa or no aa.

First, sorry if asking for help like everyone else is whining.

Second, try playing Counter Strike competetively at 100 FPS, then dropping to 50FPS, then get back to me on that.

Anyone know which drivers are best with the Ti4200? I hear the 44.03 are great, but they don't offer digital vibrance and gamma.
