If there is anyone who needs a budget card, this is the one to get. Its labeled as a Ti4200 but it is in fact a 4800se. The clocks are at 275/600.

link

Or you can get it bundled with Far Cry or Unreal Tournament 2004 for $98 and $95 respectivly.

Seems to be moderately overclockable, at least according to the reviews I've found.

All the specs are for the 4200

Yep, even the model number is linked to the Ti4200.

Link

Nope, it's the 9280s2 (notice the 2) so see my link above.

It was odd that Asus listed the the V9280s2 under the Ti4200 series.

It's possible that this is a discontinued gfxcard, hence the price.

Possibly, as I recall the 4600 was very much more powerful than the 4200, but the description seems to hint that this 4800 is slower than the 4600, so yeah, probably 4200 chipset with 8x support.

If MWAVE are using the 9280-S2 product number, then their description is definitely wrong, bit of a gamble that they don't send you the 9280S (that matches the description).

The 9280s and the 9280s2 is the same exact product only Asus has renamed the s2 to more accurately reflect what it really is.

Anyways even if it is a 4200, it'll perfrom out of the box @ 275/600 which is a lot higher then any other 4200 I know of

Ti4600: 300Mhz core, 650Mhz memory (128MB)
Ti4400: 275Mhz core, 550Mhz memory (128MB)
Ti4200: 250Mhz core, 444Mhz memory (500-513Mhz in some versions/revisions) (64MB or 128MB)

Ti4800 = Ti4600 with AGP 8x
Ti4800SE = Ti4400 with AGP 8x

Reading the specs
it's 275Mhz core, 600Mhz mem, 128MB, DVI + VGA + SVideo, AGP 2,4,8x Ti4800 engine(/)

Timings a little slower than the 4600 but good for the price, says it has the 4800 chip.

Compared to the 9480 it goes only to 75Hz v 85Hz @ max resolution.

After my earlier reservations, if I needed a card, I'd jump on it!

I was pretty sure the 4800se is almost identical in performance to the 4400.

Regardless. I couldn't see myself spending $80 on a non-DX9 card. If I was getting a cheep card I'd rather spend the extra $$ and get a 9600Pro or (*Gasp*) FX5700 If I had to get Nvidia.

But I can't resist these 9800Pro deals lately ... so much faster then these things ... even non-gamers really notice the boost.

All geforce 4 Ti chips are basically the same thing. If you got a A3 revision ti4200 chip, that will easily hit ti4600 core speeds, and I'm pretty sure by now all geforce 4 Ti cards use A3 chips. The only difference is the memory. Most ti4200 128mb carry 4ns TSOP ram, while a few carried 3.3ns BGA ram. ti4400 also carried 3.3ns BGA, and so does this ti4800se. Ti4600 and ti4800 carry 2.8ns BGA ram. 3.3ns should easily get you 650mhz, which is the stock speed of ti4600.

Am I mistaken or will this card do video capture?
