Hi all, wanted to warn everyone of this shady crap, I missed out on NE selling the 120Gb OCZ SSD so I goggled the model# and Tigerdirect comes up as a black friday deal with a code that made it $59, OK, I create an account, put in CC info finally checkout page, "code not valid"...huh?, called 800#, waited 35 min. a rep tells me that code ended 30 days ago, "it was on the page when I ordered it" I tell him, sorry, maybe your browser's cookies stored it he says, no way, I haven't been to Tiger so no way that happened, "sorry sir sometimes our system screws up". Great, now they have harvested my email address and phone# and CC info, watch out for these lying pricks...

The code expired less than an hour after it was put up. I had it applied in my cart, on the final "place your order page" but decided not to buy it. Some people on slickdeals successfully used it today as well.

I've had issues with them myself. It hasn't been bad enough to permanently go on my shit list, but they're a ways down from the top, and I treat them with caution.

It just pisses me off that they harvested my phone# and addy to re-sell to marketers then won't honor the fake discount code, assholes..

Haven't had a problem with them. Built the majority of my last 2 pc's there since the prices are decent, and less than places after I get taxed in CA. Last one was with the 15% Bing cashback (Oh how I miss thee). Also bought a 6970 for an upgrade, but returned it cause of coil whine. Gave me a full refund including shipping both ways.

Anyway, the OCZ SSD's are horrible aren't they? Maybe they did you a favor.

Possibly, the more I look and learn it seems Intel is fairly rock-solid regarding SSD's..

Hmm, never had a problem with TD, in fact, I quite like them. But this sounds horrible. Sorry to hear it all turned out that way.

That being said, I haven't really used them since Bing Cashback ended.

They ended up on my ban list years ago. I had 3 orders in a row where they were very shady with their deals, and I had instances where they shipped me alternatives and tried to tell me I was stuck with it. And when you call they give you an attitude about it. I had to dispute a couple of orders from them because they wouldn't give my money back, even after I returned the items.

I have no idea how people still deal with this awful business, although I suppose mileage may vary...they weren't always bad in my experience. I was actually disappointed to drop them because they were the first online shop I had ever done a lot of business with, and for a few years I had no issues but when they started expanding warehouses it seemed to go downhill fast. I remember one customer service agent I spoke with being frustrated and telling me how bad it was, I guess they were "misplacing" product and a ton of shipping errors and this guy was ready to quit.

I really don't like to order from TD. I have only ordered a couple things from them and that's because I couldn't find them anywhere else. Not that TD had the best deal, TD was the only one that sold them.

I don't trust a company that markets under 3 different names (buy.com, circuitcity.com and tigerdirect.com) and has different prices on the same product at all 3 sites.

Now that I've agreed with you, let me politely tell you to relax. Its only an SSD. And since its technology, the stuff only gets cheaper with time. Who knows, maybe there will be a 256 Gig version for dirt cheap on Monday?

It will be ok man. Just breath

Tigerdirect sucks
CompUSA sucks as well since it is TD, but its the only B&M store in NC (that caries a vast array of parts

More than 6 years ago, they had a reputation that wasn't good. They had problems with their rebates among other things.
http://www.ripoffreport.com/interne...igerdi/onrebate-com-tigerdirect-reb-69696.htm

I decided to try them out in late 2006 when I bought a GB of PC3200 for 140 with a 100 MIR. The rebate came in a timely manner ( 2-3 weeks IIRC).

Now I didn't order again for over 3 years but I have placed 6 more in the last 2 years, without problems not counting the two orders I placed yesterday for two SSDs.

Now I am not promoting TD as I buy a lot more from Amazon and Newegg and Fry's but sometimes they just have better prices so I go with them. In June I bought two gigantic UPSes for work, at 130-140 lbs apiece. 1659 shipped for both. Best price by over 200 when I looked at the time.

Sorry, it's rudeguy, not rudeboy
@rudeguy
The two other company names they bought were Circuit City and Compusa (not Buy.com), after the two went out of business.

AFAIK, buy.com is NOT the same company as tigerdirect.com and circuitcity.com.

So I found another link in HD for the Intel 180gb at Tiger, it's $99 after rebate, go to load checkout, delivery date is 01/03/13, huh? it said "in stock", cal the 800# again, "well it IS back ordered but that's the worst-case scenario, you will probably get it mid-late Dec"Again, more shenanigans from this company..

I ordered a motherboard from them last year which had a $30 rebate (the only reason I bought the USB 3.0 model instead of the lower-end model). After I paid and what-not, I download the rebate form and follow the directions - my model isn't listed on the online-form. E-mail TigerDirect a few times and they basically tell me "too bad" and that it isn't their fault for putting the wrong information on their website. Called American Express to do a partial charge-back because of the misleading advertisement (rebate was plastered all over it - fortunately, I saved the page and was able to send it in as documentation to AmEx as part of my claim). 30 days later, I got my rebate via my CC statement.

Never shopping at TigerDirect again.

yeah.

why people continue to do business with them amazes me.

edit: a company that treats me like that i just don't shop there anymore. there are more places out. the other day i got a code from a martial arts store (my son is really into it. he spares weekly and needs new gear) for 25% $150 order. great! i used the code 10 minutes within getting it and it was expired...Fuck you. now you lost a sale and buyer.

agreed,

maybe it's because they don't know newegg ?

or in canada we have ncix, directcanada and canadacomputers.

i buy from them regularly, no hassle, shipping 2-3 days etc.

Like many above, I also stopped shopping at TG... one time they had a deal on a watercooled case for a really good price, with a code. I put in the order, it said order processed and will ship soon. So a few days go by and all of a sudden it says order cancelled, with no call to me or email or anything along those lines. I called them up to ask what happened and they said that the code was an error so they cancelled my order.

That was the last time I shopped there years ago.
