Like many above, I also stopped shopping at TG... one time they had a deal on a watercooled case for a really good price, with a code. I put in the order, it said order processed and will ship soon. So a few days go by and all of a sudden it says order cancelled, with no call to me or email or anything along those lines. I called them up to ask what happened and they said that the code was an error so they cancelled my order.
That was the last time I shopped there years ago.
Stores have issues sometimes, it just happens. Now I shop mainly at Fry's since I prefer B&M for the instant gratification and it's easier to do an exchange if I ever need it.
Fry's had this online ordering on Thursday (Thanksgiving day) starting at 9AM where you order online, if it's in stock, the system tells you. You order it, pick the store that you want, providing it's in stock at that store, then you pick it up the next day, anytime. You can go when the crowds die down later in the afternoon on Friday.
System seemed work as it showed items that were sold out, which stores had the items and which did not. The orders that went through, I assume was because they had stock according to the computers. Normally with Fry's store pickup, you get an order acknowledgement by email immediately and around 20 minutes later, their people pull the stock and send you another email, that you can come pick it up. Now I know that's not happening until Friday, as Thursday is the holiday. No one is there to pull stock.
I get up Friday morning and look for my confirming email, nothing. Wait until noon to call the store I had the pickup from and the lady said they were still behind processing the online orders. That I should give it a few hours. I wait until 6 PM and call again. This time a guy asks for my orders, he looks, and he says they are processing them. Problem is, the store closes at 10 PM and there may not be time for pickup. He assures me that I would be able to pick up the next day.
At 11:30 PM, I get 3 emails saying that all my orders had insufficient stock so they were all cancelled. I am not happy but I am not going to say I am not shopping at Fry's. Stuff happens sometimes. Their store pickup system actually works fairly well under their regular business days and times (sans Black Friday).
I'll probably fire off an email to tell them at HQ that their Thanksgiving system was FUBARed.
