- Intel Core i5-4670K Processor (6M Cache,3.40 GHz)
- Asus Z87-A Motherboard
- 2x Patriot Viper Xtreme 4GB 1600 CL11
- WD WD10EZEX Caviar Blue 1TB Hard Drive
- Ultra Gladiator Mid-Tower Case
- Ultra LSP Series V2 650-Watt Power Supply
List price: $809.99
Combo price:
$559.99
The main issue I see with this is the Ultra PSU is crap. I would not want to use a 650W unit with a +12V worth only 456W... a recipe for disaster for an overclocked gaming rig. And it lacks an 80Plus certification. The case is a bit basic but probably functional. Other than that, the parts are good.
Let's compare this to buying parts separately from newegg, substituting the PSU for something decent and the case for a similar one available on newegg:
4670K $240
Z87-A $140
2x4GB DDR3 $75
WD10EZEX $60
Seasonic 620W $65
NZXT Source 210 $40
= $620
I have no idea how it's possible the list price for the combo is $810 when similar parts on newegg cost only $620. You should also be able to find a newegg cpu+mobo combo and save cash there. For avoiding the hassle of replacing the crappy Ultra PSU with a decent one, I would much rather pay a bit of extra in the first place and pick parts separately from newegg.
If you're looking to build a new rig, I suggest posting a new thread and starting by answering these:
