Tiger Direct, Good or Bad

i have not ordered from them...i tend to stick with newegg. i have had nothing but good luck with newegg. i have ordered from zipzoomfly a few times and the only trouble i had with them was when i had to return a defective item a few days after ordering it. i got my money but had some flack.

Being one of the most vocal people about killing Tiger Direct, and moving on in the Retail world, you would think I would come in here raising hell about them. See here

However, I had not had dealings with them for a few years. Maybe they changed? I can not say, as I have not had the chance to rate them by buying something. Mostly because they screwed not only myself, but a bunch of members here. You mess with my family, you mess with me.

On that basis, I refuse to do buisness with them again if I can help it, and I god damn well can help it, even if it means driving 30 miles to Fry's. Every time I think of Tiger Direct, horrible thoughts come to my mind, wondering if someone went to Enron or worldcom or something, to assist them.

As a retailer, they should know that word of mouth can take down a company, as you can see by this thread. Most people speak of "rumors of being evil" without actually buying anything from them, which costs them a crapload of sales. They did it to themseves.

Do I, Personally, think they should get a second chance? Hell No. There are no second chances in Retail. How in the world can I even concider it when they signed up countless AT members for monthy fee based stuff that they did not request? In my book, that is stealing. People or companies who steal, legal or not (I am pretty sure what they did was illeagl, because the chargebacks went though, but not 100% sure) are scum. Weather Tiger Direct likes it or not, that one f**kup turned them into an Evil Company until the end of time, just like CyberWings, CyberRebate, and countless others.

I don't know why Tiger Direct gets so much grief from the AT community. I've been getting their catalogs since forever. I've probby ordered at least $5000 of stuff from them. I've had to return items twice and they refunded 100% both times. Tiger also seems faster than most companies, including Newegg (just in my experience), in shipping. I usually get items no more than two days after I place the order.

I've never had any hint of a problem from them. Even their rebates don't seem that bad.

Well, a Tiger (Direct) does not change it's stripes. Tiger Direct has a reputation for being a bunch of crooks and sleazebags, and I"m guessing it's well earned. Their customer service is horrible, their resellerratings is terrible, and they just generally seem like sheisters.

Then, they screw their customers by getting them to unknowingly sign up for some crappy scheme that automatically bills your CC. And to top it off, they offer 'low' prices by always having big rebates attached to their sales, which invariably many (if not most) never receive or are denied for bogus reasons.

Can anyone tell me why in the world you would choose to do business with this company??

I ordered my digital camera from them, it was cheaper than everywhere else at the time and there was free shipping. The order came quickly and without problems and my CC was never billed again. Everyone I know who has ordered from Tiger Direct hasn't had any problems either.

Weird.

They suck worse than ever. I have yet to have Customer Service ever reply to any of my emails.

I did get my rebate on a Epson printer I bought, but other than that, I'm not all that impressed.

I voted no as I've about 75% luck with them, all but one time I was able to get the issues worked out with them, but I shouldn't have had to argue to get them to do right.

The question was to find out what people think of tiger direct. We needed to know as to whether or not to add tiger direct into our pricing engine. If you have a problem with this take it up on the side.

I would think that AT doesn't need a worse rep from doing advertising with companies that have such a poor reputation as Tiger Direct. If you do that, they might as well run full page pop-unders for Best Buy service plans.

To the argument that this isn't AT showing ads for TD:

Isn't it the same thing though? If I want ads that are not filtered, I will search on Google or even Pricewatch. When I go to AT, I expect a certain level of screening and quality from the merchants listed. Hell, you could run links to e-bay auctions for a Radeon 90-bazillion Pro run by sellers with 0 feedback who are based in Nigeria and want you to pay by Paypal.

We are in fact looking to add BestBuy, Outpost.com, Microcenter and CompUSA to the price guides as well. TD was just the first one we wanted to check up on. Obviously if their prices suck though it wont really matter since they will never show up.
