This is a general message they just sent out from their marketing department.

To All,

Based mostly in part by your feedback as affiliates partners and consumers, effective immediately, the Phonelink offer for the long distance card has been removed from TigerDirect's website.

Customer satisfaction and customer feedback are top priorities at TigerDirect.

As our affiliate partners, we value your opinions and we value your perspectives as consumers as well.

You are our most direct voice within the internet shopping community. You refer many of your customers to us and the last thing we want is for them to have a negative shopping experience while buying at TigerDirect.

Thank you all for your continued support, dedication, opinions and feedback on our program.

Congratulations for a job well done to those who posted and complained to Tiger Direct about their Opt Out marketing program. Your consumer activism had a positive effect.

This is the thread that should be stuck to the top, now. Here is a link to the original thread.

But the question remains, will people still buy from them? I'm amazed that anandtech and fatwalet had this kind of affect

Same here... it's not THAT particular incident, lack of judgement, it's the principle... a company has to be pretty foolish to alienate those that ARE buying from them.

This all depends on who you want to be held accountable for this problem. Do you lay the blame on the third party or do you blame Tiger Direct.

I'll let you guys decide for yourselves.

The warning was posted on many deal and non deal sites, not just a couple.

Too late, too little, too bad.

It is these occasions that make it possible for people to voice their mostly negative experiences with companies like tigerdirect, and I was/am really amazed HOW MUCH bad experiences were made with them.
In all regards!

Maybe IF they had admitted RIGHT FROM THE BEGINNING their mistake (or better: real intention) they could have saved some credibility. We all make mistakes, everyday all day.
We see missprints on paper and websites very often and are frustrated if they are not keeping what they advertise.

BUT these guys tried to shove you some junk expensive phone agreement under.
Even the boss of Fat wallet (why is this word "forbidden"??) was scammed by them!

So yes, decide for yourselves.

Vote with your money (or lack of it).

This is a kneejerk reaction to avoid lost sales. These scan artists didn't just get religion overnight....they obviously got pressure from more than just unhappy individuals. They have been using these unethical tactics for years and it's doubtful if they intend to stop now.

The only real consumer victory would be if they changed their privacy policy to state that they would NEVER give your personal information to any third party....period.

I've never bought anything from TD before... not because I thought they sucked or anything... it just never happened.

But when any, and I mean any company pulls BS like this, they've lost me as a customer for life.

You just have to wonder what goes through a company's mind when they do something like this... do they think people aren't going to find out about it???

Oh this is a good one: "As our affiliate partners, we value your opinions and we value your perspectives as consumers as well."
... Well, if you had any respect for your affiliates and customers in the first place, you would never have pulled a stunt like this! Morons.

They make profit, they don't care about you. $61 is as much they can make from your returning purchasing in 1 year, what do they care?
They'll scam you over and over, they reinvent another marketing skeem and uneducated consumer will fall for again.
That is what they do, they don't emphasize the customer service, check their rating! They are emphasizing the marketing skeems, haven't you guys seen that in so many faces yet?

$61 is a clean profit and perhaps more if you allow that to go one for another month or so.
They keep on marketing their "merchandise" and skeems that is what they are good at.
Even in this forum there are TD people advertising their "deals" for naive. Check some of TD ads here and then check the authors and what they have posted before, you'll see what I am talking about.
Naive people get sucked over and over, they never learn, that is exactly why the companies like Tiger Direct can exist.

I'm still going through account records. I'm hoping a $15 usb to ethernet adapter didn't cost me more.
they've at least lost me as a customer for good.

I know everyone is still pretty upset at them, but at least they have reacted in a decent way. Yes I have read through the old thread, and they did try to justify their actions before, but at least a solution was eventually put in place. A lot of companies have acted a lot worse, give them a *little* bit of credit.

I'm not saying that they should be rewarded for doing the right thing, I'm just saying that they shouldnt be completely written off for past indescretions. It's hard enough to find decent merchants on the net, granted TD made their own mess, but at least they are working on cleaning it up.

I understand what you're saying, but there are so many other places to buy from--why wast time with TD? They were awful in the past, seemed to commit to improving, and now this? They act as though they had no idea what was going on--as though whatever kickbacks they were cashing in were comming from nowhere.....

They won't get my business, since that BBB link that was posted showed an extremely shady business model.

I know several people have 'stuck up' for Tiger in various threads, but I have felt like I should as well. I have purchased equipment from them for over one year, and have not had one problem. This includes ram, processor, motherboard, 2 battery backup power adapter things, the toshiba 2 gib hd, and everything has shipped on time. I'm not a cheapskate and don't need free magazines, so I've never had a problem with their fineprint. I think they have great prices and have given me excellent service. It's great that everyone complained about their marketing tactics and they got rid of the phone deal, but give them a break. Many people have had positive remarks and dealings with Tiger Direct. Just say no to the 'free' stuff you cheap-o's and you'll be all right. Thanks.

If a company scams you, they don't get redemption from withdrawing the scam.

If the dumbass that proposed the scam was fired, it would not be good enough. The company said it was a good idea and they will do the same crap again.

They won't get another penny from me.

Give them a break..............Well you wouldnt feel this way if this company had scammed you like they have myself. I have nothing but negative things to say about Tiger always will, every chance I get. If you deal with them in any way that is your perogitave, but be forwarned, they are not a legitimate bussiness. They are run by a group of crooks, PLAIN AND SIMPLE. Its been two years since the last time I dealt with the jerkys, and Im still pissed about it. :disgust:

edit- and if you guys just cannot understand why this company has drawn as much anger as they have, read some of these stories.
