I would have taken the 94K! Damn he is just in his twenties still. Can you imagine what this will be worth 30 years from now?

Ya, that card might be worth 175 in ten years. Or 200 grand

Or Tiger busts and doesn't do well (I don't think this will happen, he is an amazing athlete)

Take the 125 grand put your kids threw college. Or start your own business.

Or something.

A piece of cardboard? Yea- and the Mona Lisa is just a canvas w/ paint on it. . . David is just a big piece of broken marble and my AMD t-bird is just layers of silicon dioxide, copper, and aluminun substrates.

yes, I agree about the statue and the paiting.. but the cpu is more than the sum of its pieces because it serves a purpose.

people who collect little carboard rectangles with pictures of (usually) big sweaty men on them have their priorities askew.

First of all, you would have to have money to burn to spend that kind of bucks on a piece of cardboard. With current printing and scanning technology where it is, wouldn't you think you could have a duplicate made for a fraction of that amount? And I mean an exact duplicate that could not be detected. Remember, folks, it's just a piece of cardboard with color printing. They weren't made to be counterfeit-proof.

I bet the seller put it up on eb@y with a $125K reserve hoping against hope someone would bid anywhere in the neighborhood. Then when the reserve isn't met, the seller contacts the high bidder with the generous offer to "let it go" for the high bid. And laughs all the way to the bank.

And there's a Tiger Woods card that was printed in a Sports Illustrated for Kids magazine that is also supposed to be worth over $100K in PSA 10. How many other Tiger cards will get hyped into that ridiculous price range?

I always ask myself if these cards are supposed to be worth so much more in the future, why doesn't the owner hold on to them?

The amd cpu was a joke. I just through it in there because we were learning about how chips are processed, and I wanted to throw it in. But in any case, it's a hobby . . .and every boy needs a hobby. Some people rice their cars, others oc their computers, some spend $100,000 on cards. If you really loved the game, and you wanted a valued collector's item, and you're a gazillionaire I guess it's a good buy? And I dunno about duplicating the thing. I suppose it could be possible? But I dunno if you could make it 100% full proof. I'm sure there'd be some way to detect it. But in any case, I'm sure it's the real thing . . . and there's no joy in knowing you own a fake/counterfeit/replica. It's like having foakley's . . .they look it, but trust me- they don't feel it.

Oh yea, and the owner probably doesn't hold on to it because he wants the money now. Say you want a Ferarri . . . and you want it now. I don't think you'd hold on to the card and decide to wait ten years so that you can buy a Ferarri and a half.
