I'm done here, if this is just going to turn into a huge personal attack fest.
It was a "personal attack fest" from the start. You got with some like-minded bandwagoners to attack anyone who questioned the narrative based on the information presented.

So what, you guys ended up being right once all the facts came out, but at the beginning you were jumping to conclusions, you can't just jump to conclusions before all the facts actually come out.

No additional facts came out. None.

Besides, you shouldn't shout-down and ridicule people for considering other possibilities and call them "racist" for not going along with the possibility you latched-on to.

Jumping to conclusions would be to assume that what the kid claims is the truth, despite there being obvious lies in the story he's telling.

Now they did. But it still does not excuse the school for getting cops involved for something that was literally a consumer product outside of it's original enclosure.

Keep saying that. An IED is often "literally a consumer product outside of its original enclosure." Sometimes, it even remains in the original enclosure. Imagine that! In the most recent successful IED attacks stateside, everything was contained inside normal-looking pressure cookers (Boston Marathon bombings).

The officials have to ask: "Why is this clock outside its original enclosure?" The kid's answer was a lie: "It's a clock. It's my invention. I built it." That doesn't add up.

Really, I wish the kid good luck, I hope he does actually get into electronics and does something good with his life.
I agree with this.

But I'm sure he learned his life lesson, don't try to act smart if you are not, you are literally treated as a terrorist.
He was rewarded immensely as a direct result of his actions. We have only reinforced that behavior, unfortunately.

I'm sorry to come down so hard on you. You probably think I don't like you, but nothing could be further from the truth. You seem like a pretty cool guy and I'm sure we have a lot of the same technical interests.

You always struck me as a pretty naive person though, especially when it comes to media consumption. Question everything!

Remember, people produce the news. Biased, idealogical human beings. It is often heavily slanted to support certain ideals. Sensationalism sells, so expect distortions, exaggerations, and deliberate omission of certain details. Sometimes, the people producing it are just idiots. Sometimes they're just ignorant (probably this case). Sometimes you really do know far more about the subject than they do.

How on Earth do you think that reasoned observations and mere suggestions of other possibilities are "jumping to conclusions?!" Oh. That's right: because it contradicts your assumptions.

Assuming that sensational claims are the truth is jumping to a conclusion. I kept my options open, you didn't, and you still resist learning the logical lesson you need to learn to prevent this crap from happening again. On top of that, you never apologized for your baseless attacks when you tried to insinuate our motivations (talk about jumping to conclusions).

Please learn from this.

Are you forgetting that it was actually MORE than that? It was presented in a suspicious way with a suspicion explanation by someone likely MOTIVATED to act suspicious. It wasn't just a clock in a different case. You can't ignore the circumstances. That's playing dumb.

Wow, good thing I checked back in this thread.

Now I realize this kid isn't smart, he just put a clock in a briefcase and set the alarm to go off at school.
He's just a moron and his parents are terrorist sympathizers.

I hope Obama reneges on his White House invite.

"Once all the facts came out"?, the FACTS were the same right from the get-go and describing his "clock" as "a consumer product outside of it's original enclosure" is fucking laughable. That little POS KNEW his "clock" looked like a bomb and CONTINUED to tote it around the campus even after his science teacher TOLD HIM to not to do so. Oh, lets set the alarm to go off a couple of times as well. Him AND his stank-ass'ed family need to be deported STAT.

Even the iman at his mosque is calling it a fake:

http://www.theatlantic.com/notes/2015/10/he-didnt-build-a-clock/411829/

Elhassan, a native of the Sudan who is now an American citizen, likes to call himself a sheik. He wears a cleric’s flowing white robes and claims hundreds of followers throughout Egypt, Sudan and in the United States.

But he is unknown as a scholar or holy man in the state he has called home for two decades. Religious leaders in Texas say they have never heard of Elhassan, including the imam at the mosque where he worships. “This so-called leader, we have never heard of this person,” said Imam Zia ul Haque Sheikh, the head of the Islamic Center of Irving. “I believe the whole thing is made up.”

No they weren't right after all. All that has come up is more misinformation from right wing websites and 'news' outlets like Fox which posters like Czroe, Ichini are repeating.

The boy was pressured into making a signed statement in school and in the police station without his parents present that he made and brought a bomb to school. That fact has never been refuted. But some posters have either been willfully dishonest or merely parroting right wing propaganda by saying that he was coached by his parents during questioning.

A little later on right wing propaganda outlets like townhall.com, are making up other stuff like how he was being evasive and aggressive during questioning. And others are pushing it further by saying that the boy and his family should be punished for his 'fame'. Which is strange considering the family said that they did not want to be a political pawn in a tv interview and refused to work with groups like CAIR.

They boy's suspension was never rescinded and the school and police never apologized or expressed regret over the incident. But right wing websites were quick to lie that he was never suspended from school. That sort of treatment probably made up his family's decision to leave the school.

lol 15m is ridiculous. I could see a couple grand maybe? But of course you can sue for any reason and any amount so may as well just make up a big number. He'll need that 15m to upgrade his cpu fab.

At first I was more on his side because of how ridiculously the school handled this, but more and more it seems he's just seeking attention at this point. Let the situation go and move on.

I read that his story now, is that he "found" the parts and put the clock together. I think they should let this go to trial, and bring a soldering iron into court and resolder the clock together, and then ask him why the soldering joints look so crappy now.

Then once it's determined that he lied about putting the clock together, dismiss the lawsuit or chop of his hand.
