I've had my sonyericsson w810i for two years now and it's about time to get a new one.

requirements for the next phone:
GPS
e-mail
organizer
loud earpiece
good battery life
good reception
full keyboard or touchscreen

The three phones I've been looking at are
BB Bold
BB Curve 8900
iPhone

what do you guys think of these phones and any suggestions for other phones I might want to take a look at. Are the OSs sluggish on these phones and what are the 3rd party applications and development like for them? Best bang for the buck?

edit:
almost forgot, SE Xperia X1?

It may not get the best reviews but I am very happy with my BB Storm. I have had no problems with it on the .75 OS and the BB push e-mail is great I set up my 4 accounts in a flash and even fron my hosted domain e-mails come through is less that a minute. I have been with Verizon since it was GTE Mobile net in the mid 80's and my experiences have always been positive. It doesn't hurt that there is only Verizon service available where I work, and that I get a 20% discount on phones and service. I do not get this through work so it is on BIS service.

Not sure why that guy says BB Storm when you specifically ask for AT&T... but anyways

It depends more on what you want to use it for. The BBs are fantastic for email/messaging and organizer type stuff, the iPhone is solid gold for 3rd party apps that add a whole lot of features to the phone. The OS on the iPhone is IMO slightly more fluid than the BB OS, but I loved my BB when I had it either way. There are apps for the BB, but it's barely a drop in the bucket compared to what the iphone offers. The iphone doesn't have great battery life unfortunately which is the main drawback, but that all depends on how much data and stuff you plan on using.

Also, AT&T is running a promo for the Bold (and other BBs) with a trade in program. http://blackberrybold.tradeups.../GetQuote.aspx?promo=0
You put in the phone you have, and the phone you want, and you can request a quote. I'm not sure if you'll get much for the w810i but it might be something to check on if you're swinging that way anyway.

If you ask me the iphone is the better value right now. I was hoping to get the Bold, but at $300 with contract it wasn't really a good buy. The refurb iphones are $99 for 8gig, and still come with the warranty.

Verizon's data plan sucks for 55.00 compare to Tmobile's data plan for 30.00 a month

how bad is the battery on the iPhone?
I was spoiled with this SE phone that after 2 years still has 4 hours of talk time on it and I'm going to have trouble going back to a phone with poor battery life (my old LG sucked in the battery department)

If you only use it for talking, I get about 5 hours on 3G, and it should be close to double that if you keep it on Edge.

The problem is you will be doing more than just talking on an iPhone. I watched tv on it for about 2 hours today, and the battery was more than half gone. On average, I get around 5 hours by the first warning, if I don't watch tv.

The 3.0 update coming fairly soon adds copy and paste. It's taken a while, but it's finally going to be on the iphone.

Blackberry Bold hands down from those choices. Amazon.com has it for 150 dollars.

I'm not a fan of touch screens to begin with but this is what I know concerning the Bold and Curve 8900.

The curve has a better resolution by 40 pixels, but the screen is smaller. I prefer the Bold since at those small sizes resolution makes no difference for me and I prefer real estate. Also, the Bold's processor is more powerful; I've experienced lag on the 8900 when loading media. The Bold supports 3g, the 8900 does not. The camera on the curve is 3.2 megapixels with auto focus and image stabilazation, where the bold's camera is only 2.0 megapixels w/o those nifty features.

alright, does anyone have some criticisms about the phones that I should know about?
I have a pretty good feel about what is right with the phones, but what is wrong with them (bold and iphone specifically?

iPhone lacks a physical keyboard, which may or may not be an issue for you. The battery life is something people complain about, but it's no worse than any other phone with a screen of that size. Any functionality missing can be replaced with jailbreaking. But if you don't plan to do that it would be viewed as a minus to you. One thing I don't like about my iPhone is I cannot lock the screen from rotating when I turn it. Doesn't effect phone usage at all, but I find it rather annoying when I move it a bit and don't want it to change from portrait to landscape but it does any ways. I wish the battery life was better, but I don't see any other devices getting more. So that's just a phone gripe in general

I personally love my iphone, and would recommend it to anyone. If you are considering one though, definately wait until the new phone comes out, rumored to be in July. You can either get the new one, or grab a used one for cheap from the hordes of people that will likely be selling them to upgrade. The 3.0 software update being released soon will address alot of the shortcomings of the iphone, ie mms, cut and paste, a2dp, turn by turn gps, etc.

I bought iphone 2 days ago to try it out when someone here mentioned about 3.0 upgrade and I hope 3.0 upgrade will change everything. But so far the only gripe I have with iphone is AOL IM get disconnected after 5 minutes if i leave AIM to other apps to do something. I always wanted to have AIM to stay connected at all time. I hope new iphone coming out next month will address all shortcomings.
